Thanks for the memories Matt. As reported by Todd Zolecki and a number of other outlets yesterday, Chan Ho Park , Pedro Feliz , Matt Stairs and Paul Bako have all officially filed for free agency. Of the four players listed above the one I would most like to see return would be Chan Ho Park in a relief role. My question would be if he seriously wants to pursue a starting gig somewhere else first. He...
Less than a week removed from the World Series and the Phillies' hot stove is heating up. Chan Ho Park, Matt Stairs and Paul Bako joined Pedro Martinez, Miguel Cairo, Pedro Feliz and Brett Myers in filing for free agency. Free agents have been assigned Type A and B designation and now the stage is set for teams to talk turkey. Only Park and Eyre will garner extra picks for the Phils. Aside from a few...

Observations: 1. So now the Series goes back to New York, with the Yankees leading 8-6. Unless Joe Girardi summons Chad Gaudin to the mound, the Yankees' starters both will be working on short rest. Since the 2004 NLDS (when Roy Oswalt beat Jaret Wright), starters in the post-season working on short rest are 0 and 7. The record for starters working on short rest since 1999 is 9-28. The edge on this...
Bowman's Blog : Now it's Braves fans who are jealous of Philly fans — After Cliff Lee produced his dominant performance against the Yankees in Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday night, I asked Phillies backup catcher Paul Bako if the pinpoint control that Lee has displayed during his past two outings merited a comparison to Greg Maddux.
NEW YORK - Paul Bako still remembers the one and only time he caught A.J. Burnett in a major league start. It was 2000. Burnett was a 23-year-old flamethrower, one of several young pitching prospects breaking into the big leagues with the Florida Marlins. Bako was a 28-year-old catcher whom the Astros had shipped to the Marlins after the first game of the season.
