Remember when the Sox traded for Coco Crisp before the 2006 season and it looked like a great idea? Three mediocre seasons led to his being dealt to the Royals for Ramon Ramirez and today Kansas City declined Crisp's $8...
Theo Epstein and crew have shown great patience over the years, especially when holding out for trading Coco Crisp to Kansas City for young Ramon Ramirez.

This one irritated me right from the start; I'm a notoriously cranky guy, and whether it was forgetting my regular glasses in the car (I had to watch a night game through sunglasses, grr , because there's no reentry for postseason games!) or forgetting to bring my charged spare battery for the camera (I got maybe a couple dozen pointless photos before it ran out of juice), there was an awful lot to...
In the top of the eighth, after walking his first batter in relief of Jon Lester, Red Sox pitcher Ramon Ramirez threw his next pitch straight into the ribs of one Torii Hunter — whose three-run home run (punctuated by a [...]

Rocco Baldelli will not be active for the ALDS with the Angels, due to his hip flexor problem. He will be eligible for the ALCS should the Red Sox advance. That means that Brian Anderson and Joey Gathright will be on the roster. Anderson has a terrific glove but absolutely no stick. Neither are a big threat off the bench, so Baldelli's presence will be missed. Here is the final Red Sox ALDS roster:...

The Reds defeated the Cardinals in the opener of their three-game series, with a power show by Jay Bruce. Homer Bailey came up with another fine performance. Bailey gave up one run in seven innings on seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts. Jared Burton pitched a scoreless inning. Ramon Ramirez gave up a solo homer in the 9th, but got the side. Bruce hit two homers and drove in five runs. He...

After taking a day of rest, the Reds returned to the Offense That Wouldn't Stop, winning their fifth consecutive game while putting a 10-4 hurting on the Astros. That gives the Reds some breathing room in the race for fourth place. Things got off to a good start when Joey Votto homered in the first inning. The Reds added five more in the second, with Votto hitting a three-run double to cap the rally....

Clay Buchholz was terrific on Thursday night, and won his fourth game in September as the Red Sox rolled to a 10-3 win over Kansas City and a split in their four-game series. The Sox lowered their postseason Magic Number to 3 with the win and Texas losing at Oakland. The Royals just about handed this game to the Sox, making five errors. David Ortiz is now red hot, as he blasted his 26th home run, and...
