Looks like three surgeries is all Rob Johnson is going to need this off-season. Johnson met earlier today with team medical director Edward Khalfayan and they both went over an MRI taken previously on Johnson's elbow. It was determined that while there is some inflamation and a small bone spur in the elbow, it's nothing that will require an operation.

Rob Johnson is undergoing wrist surgery as we speak. I spoke to him earlier this afternoon, when he was on his way to the Seattle clinic where the procedure was to take place. The surgery will be exploratory to start, then any damage that needs fixing will be taken care of in what will be a day procedure of only a few hours. The good news for Johnson is that it now appears he won't need a fourth surgery,...

by Dan Graziano Filed under: Bills , NFL Quarterbacks , NFL Analysis So Dick Jauron is available to paint your house this weekend if you need somebody. The Buffalo Bills have relieved Jauron of his job as their head coach , effective immediately. And while there's nothing on Jauron's resume that's going to cause anybody to mix him up with Vince Lombardi, the other Bills news of the day makes me wonder...

it must be time for this lede. The subject of the story is Rob Johnson ('05) . If it's a Tuesday in the offseason, then Seattle Mariners catcher Rob Johnson is probably in a surgical suite having another repair done on a body that was battered during the 2009 season. Two Tuesdays ago in Colorado, it was a labrum repair on Johnson's left hip. Before that, a similar surgery on his right hip. This Tuesday...

Writing is easier when you don't have to think up an intro. In terms of things we know we can measure pretty well, Rob Johnson the defender doesn't stand out, at least not in a good way. His error rate, for whatever that's worth, is about average. His four in 754.1 innings matches up well with the league-average rate of 6.1 per 1000. His arm is decent. He's thrown out 20 of 71 would-be base-stealers...

A couple thoughts when watching Adrian Peterson and Aaron Rodgers. 1) AP -- he finds and hits the hole about once every 6 times he carries the ball. He either has no instincts or no vision. It is amazing that he is able to rush for around 100 yards in a game give the fact that out of 10 carries, 4 are blocked so poorly nothing is there and the other six times he takes the best route to gain yardage...

Elizabeth Warren sums things up pretty succinctly: The banking lobby is as powerful and deeply entrenched as ever, but it was powerful in the 1930s, too. Nonetheless, the New Dealers learned the Great Lesson: Powerful insiders cannot be permitted to write the rules, and prosperity and security depend on a playing field that supports a vibrant middle class. Today, we face a similar set of questions...

The Return of the Great Depression It can quite reasonably be said that at no point in economic history has technical knowledge ever been less relevant to being a good economist than today. Mainstream economics is in complete disarray. In the UK, economists are reeling in shock as their predicted third-quarter recovery has failed to appear, while in the USA, Nobel-winning Keynesians are first calculating...
