After the Dodgers' fiasco (perhaps mitigated by a pre-signing deal with Wolf etc., but you've gotta wonder given the rumors ), the Angels sensibly offered both Chone Figgins and John Lackey arbitration . Vlad Guerrero, Darren Oliver, Robb Quinlan, and Kelvim Escobar weren't offered arb. I'll suppress any snerks about how one should run a franchise; the Angels have made plenty in my time watching them....

Bill Shaikin of the LA Times reports that the Angels offered arbitration to just two of their ranked free agents --- Type As Chone Figgins and John Lackey. Los Angeles' other Type A free agent, veteran reliever Darren Oliver, as well as Type B Vladimir Guerrero and unranked free agents Kelvim Escobar and Robb Quinlan did not receive offers from the club. Though L.A. could have received two draft picks...

Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer explains that the Indians would have been hesitant to offer Carl Pavano arbitration if they hadn't traded him to the Twins. After a healthy season, he could command close to $10MM if offered arbitration and the Indians are reluctant to commit that much to the righty, though they may end up bringing him back. Here's more on some free agents the Indians may consider:...

On a day in which the Angels announced that starting outfielder Bobby Abreu would return to the club, the organization also learned that they will be in fierce competition with other organizations to resign some of their other players, who declared for free agency earlier today. The Halos’ ace John Lackey , who happens to be the top starter in this year’s market, officially filed for free...

OAKLAND, Calif.(AP) Robb Quinlan isn't certain if he'll be on the Los Angeles Angels ' postseason roster. At this point, he's more concerned about playing in their final regular-season game.

It sure seems odd that the Angels continue to win against the A's despite the fact that they're basically coasting waiting for the season to end. The Angels won largely on Robb Quinlan's bat, with Q knocking in three of the Halos' four runs. Scott Kazmir also had a good outing, going five scoreless innings. The A's scored their two runs in Jason Bulger's eighth inning appearance. The Angels knocked...

OAKLAND -- Scott Kazmir pitched five scoreless innings, Robb Quinlan drove in three runs, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the A's 4-2 Saturday. Erick Aybar had three hits and scored twice in his return to the Angels' lineup, and Juan Rivera added two hits before being lifted in the fifth inning when Los Angeles manager Mike Scioscia substituted liberally to rest his starters for the postseason. Brian...

Slamming the door on Texas' faint hopes for the postseason, and forcing an Angels rematch with ancient nemesis Boston, the Angels beat Scott Feldman for only the first time this year in a relatively tight but ultimately satisfying outing. The Angels led from Bobby Abreu's first-inning solo homer on; Robb Quinlan in what may be one of his last LAAoA appearances did absolutely nothing, but Chris Pettit...

The Angels eventually hided Andy Pettite, one or two runs at a time over the course of the three runs the long-in-the-tooth Yankees starter gave up over six innings. The Angels cruised and never trailed, with Hokie Joe Saunders posting a phenomenal game, getting to within two outs of a complete game. Despite Brian Fuentes' best attempts to make it interesting (including a long fly ball to Nick Swisher...
