This twitter message from the Mariners ' beat writer says the Astros signed relief pitcher Roy Corcoran , whom was released by the Mariners after refusing a minor league assignment. This seems OK if it is a minor league deal, but the fact that Corcoran left the Mariners because he wanted to stay in the majors makes me wonder if he will soon be on the Astros roster. Corcoran is a heavy groundball pitcher...

Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times reports that the Astros will sign Roy Corcoran, who just became a free agent. The 29-year-old righty became a free agent after refusing an assignment to the Mariners' Triple A team. He allowed 25 hits in 19 innings with the Mariners and walked about three times as many batters (17) as he struck out (6). The Mariners designated Corcoran for assignment late last month....

Roy Corcoran has passed through waivers and refused his assignment to AAA Tacoma, according to Kirby Arnold. He is now free to sign with all 30 clubs. Corcoran was a nice surprise last season but just didn’t have it this year. Good luck, Roy!

Ryan Rowland-Smith has been called up to make tonight’s start. Roy Corcoran has been designated for assignment to make room for the Aussie. I’m excited to see RRS throw. I heard that he made a mechanical adjustment in his last start that triggered the return of his biting curveball, so I’d like to see if I [...]

According to the TNT blog, Roy Corcoran has been designated for assignment to make room for Ryan Rowland-Smith’s return to the rotation. I wouldn’t expect Corcoran to get claimed, of all the guys on the roster he should be just about the easiest to pass through waivers. But if not, Sean White is doing the [...] -- This post came from: U.S.S. Mariner , and is copyright by the authors. This...
