1) Alexia Amarista, 20 - 2B, A-Ball .319/.390/.468 with 4 HR and 38 SB's. +18 bat, +20 glove Only three players have put up better seasons in the Halos' system over the past five years: Brandon Wood in 2005, Howie Kendrick in 2005, and Sean Rodriguez in 2006. That's some pretty good company for Amarista, whom Baseball America failed to even mention in their Midwest League's top 20 prospects, despite...

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed by Tampa Bay's ability to turn Akinori Iwamura into a young, cost-controllable fireballing reliever. It was essentially a done deal that Iwamura would become a free agent so Tampa could move to Ben Zobrist as a full-time second baseman (with Sean Rodriguez knocking on the door for playing time). As time was going on, I was beginning to wonder if other teams would...

Durham Bulls: Anybody would assume that a AAA team which just had lost Wade Davis, Chris Richard, Reid Brignac, Jeff Bennett, Andy Sonnanstine, Dale Thayer, Shawn Riggans and Fernando Perez to the big...

With such, college football and the N.F.L. will take over the local sports spotlight. For all purposes, ‘competitive'...
