What do the Jays have they can trade?

Mike Wilner, on the weekend, put out his 'plan' to 'save the Jays'. Actually it was his second suggested plan, on the theory that the Jays were going to raise the payroll to $120 million. This one is very trade heavy, trading off a bunch of pitchers (and Travis Snider ) for Felix Hernandez , Prince Fielder and a bunch of other guys. I always find suggesting trades is a tough thing because as a Jay's...

Cito Gaston Talks 2010 Starting Rotation

Manager Cito Gaston predicts that the Blue Jays will stick with a similar starting five next season, writes Jordan Bastian of MLB.com. Assuming they hang on to Roy Halladay, Gaston sees Shaun Marcum along with lefties Ricky Romero (Toronto's top pick in 2006) and Marc Rzepczynski as Doc's support in spots two through four. The fifth slot is, of course, a long way from being ironed out, but 27-year-old...

Series Preview: Yankees @ Jays

Yankees vs. Blue Jays Rogers Centre (4 games) This won't be a full preview, just the pitching matchup and injury reports. Sorry, I'm a little busy at the moment. All the Yankees have to do is keep doing what they done since Alex Rodriguez got back in May, and that's win. The Blue Jays stink, and have laid down to the Red Sox twice in the past two weeks. Hopefully they do the same this weekend against...

2007 Topps Updates and Highlights

Another 6-card pack from the infamous repack. Shaun Marcum Eric Hinske Cliff Floyd - Don't call him Cornelius. Even if he signs his contracts that way. Papelbon--Generation Now - Worst insert set ever. Jesse Litsch Alex Rodriguez--2007 AL All-Star - As time goes on, I find it harder and harder to believe that one of the greatest players of all time is one of the most under-appreciated. I actually kind...

Question for you all: Who will be coming up to take Jeremy Accardo's roster spot?

So I have a question for you all. Cito has said that Jeremy Accardo was sent down to Triple-A because there is "somebody there we want to get up here and take a look at." I'm taking it for granted that it is a pitcher, because if it was a bat we'd likely have sent down a bat. He didn't say who it was they want to take a look at, we will likely find out Friday, so we have a day to speculate....

Friday Notes: Janssen, Snider, Marcum, Stewart, Jackson

First, they talked to Shaun Marcum about his rehab: "I'm just trying to...

3 hours to game time

And Roy Halladay is still a Jay. But then I won't breathe a sigh of relief until I see him on the mound. I think twitter is allowing rumors to run more wild than they normally would. Someone twitters a guess and it's everywhere in a few moments. The one I just saw has Cliff Lee going to the Phillies for not near enough, so I don't believe that one either. I think, at the moment, if Doc goes it will...

Avert Your Eyes

Another ugly day on the farm included just one win, all the way down in Low-A ball while two pitchers, including a rehabbing righty, left their starts early. Happy Monday! Las Vegas 9 Tacoma 14 Not a good night for rehabbing Jays in this one. Shaun Marcum started and went two innings, allowing a run on two hits and a walk. After 34 pitches, he was gone. No reason was stated and a quick search online...

Don't Get Swept Game Thread, Rays at Jays

Hi everyone. Back from the Evergreen State. Looks like it's been a tough few days for the Jays in the interim - didn't get to watch any games, but it sure looks like they have been creative in finding ways to lose. Nice thing about baseball - momentum is the next game's starting pitcher and for the Jays that's young starter Brett Cecil, who is coming off two consecutive very nice starts. Of course...

The Double-A Duel

All eyes were on New Hampshire last night as one of the best prospects in all of baseball faced off against a rehabbing starter whose absence from the rotation has been sorely noticed in Toronto this season. The game did not disappoint and provided one of the few bright spots on the farm last night. Las Vegas nipped a close game from Tacoma, but Dunedin was shut out, Lansing and the GCL Blue Jays were...
