In the Land of Pravda, Ben Zobrist is the Invisible Man Sitting Atop the Clouds

More photos » by Kathy Willens - AP One of Jeter's intangibles: drop-kicking the competition. Browse more photos » At least in this MLB.com article detailing some of the American League MVP candidates. With 99% of the other post-season awards, I care not in the least about who wins. That being said, 22 names are listed in this article. 22 candidates. None have the surname Zobrist. None....

Blogging the Offseason: Cleveland Indians

Blogging the Offseason is a 30 team series in which I ask a blogging representative from each MLB team a series of ten questions about their desires and thoughts surrounding the offseason. Check out all of them here . Today's AL team is the Cleveland Indians and our guest is Scott Sargent from the Cleveland Blog Waiting For Next Year . 1. What are you thoughts on the Manny Acta hire? Were you hoping...

Award Voting Incenses Frustrated Blogger

As much as people love to debate the Cy Young and MVP results every year, the problem is that rarely can anyone be absolutely certain that their suggested pick is the right one. There are so many different ways of evaluating who was the best pitcher or who was the most valuable player that, as much as fans live to call other people and especially the award voters stupid, these awards make it hard,...

Indians Inattention

Think Indians fans had a hard time sitting still while they watched former aces C.C. Sabathia and Cliff Lee square off in Game 1 of the Series last night? You can’t possibly imagine the lengths the players went to in an effort to avoid thinking about it at all. Shin-Soo Choo looked for the best place to hide just in case the South Korean military came to collect on those two years of service....

Neyer: Ryan Howard is basically Shin-Soo Choo

There have been a lot of people who have followed in Rob Neyer's footsteps over the years, but there still isn't anyone better at writing stuff that pisses off mainstream baseball writers : Ryan Howard is pretty good. I mean, he's no Shin-Soo Choo. But pretty good, for sure. You probably think I'm just some snot-nosed blogger trying to make a name for myself. You're right. After all, it's patently...

This Guy Is Playing Golf Right Now: Shin Soo Choo

As the playoffs and award season gets underway, we want to take a gander at some players who had outstanding seasons in 2009 but whose teams ended up just shy of making the postseason and who will (most likely)...

Interesting from Baseball Digest Daily

Thanks to Brew Crew Ball for finding this one. Michael Street of Baseball Digest Daily has this: Pacific Perspectives: 2009 Asian MLB Awards Down at the end he unveils his MVP of Asian ballplayers. No surprise that it is Ichiro. Getting consideration is former Timber Rattler, Shin-soo Choo ('02). The part on Choo: Shin-Soo Choo showed that 2008 wasn’t a fluke, as he hit .300/.394/.489 for the...

Fantasy Baseball: 2010 AL OF dynasty/keeper rankings.

Who knows how he'll bounce back. 3. Adam Lind - 3/100/.300 is entirely possible again after a breakout 2009. 4. Jacoby Ellsbury - Basically a cheaper Carl Crawford, with more steals. 5. Jason Bay - Free agent...

Reflecting on 2009: It's All About Guys Like Choo!

I gotta tell you folks, there is not enough love for a guy that saved my fantasy baseball season. I picked him up on the Waiver Wire in Mid-May when one of my Utility slots opened up, Carlos Delgrado (Carlos Del WHO???) I picked up a Shin-Soo Choo . It's a guy that no one talks about, but was pretty valuable. At the time he was batting .286 with 5 HR, 6 SB, 21 Runs, and 23 RBI. All he did when I picked...

Dust Storm

Josh Beckett looked really shaky in the first two innings of last night's game with the Indians, allowing four runs in the first two frames. He missed his previous start, so there may have been rust to shake off. But the Red Sox picked him up, scoring one in the first on Dustin Pedroia's home run, and seven in the second, which included a grand slam by Victor Martinez. From there, Beckett went five...

Shin-Soo Choo Reaches 20 HR/20 SB Plateau

The most productive player on the Indians roster this season reached a milestone last night amidst yet another loss against the Red Sox. CLEVELAND – Kyle Davies carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning and won his fourth straight start, pitching the Kansas City Royals past the Cleveland Indians 7-0 on Sunday.
