Game 79: White Sox 11, Indians 4 (7 innings)

More photos » by Mark Duncan - AP This picture is too reminiscent of a time that I miss for me to not use it. Browse more photos » After an extended rain delay, the game today was finally called final with the Indians suffering yet another loss. Today's loss was out of the ordinary in that it involved an abysmal Cliff Lee performance. For whatever reason, Lee just didn't have it today and...

Indians Release Salas, DFA Chulk

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported yesterday that the Indians released Juan Salas and designated Vinnie Chulk for assignment. Reliever Matt Herges was called up, Rafael Perez was demoted and today the Indians added Luis Vizcaino as they revamp their bullpen. The Indians have an 11-18 record due in large part to a bullpen whose ERA was 6.49 even before the team lost 13-3 in Boston last night.

More photos » by Mark Duncan - AP Scott Lewis' last appearance in a game for a while. I thought Vinnie would be up fairly soon, but certainly not within a week of Opening Day.

Marcus Thames is awesome. Thames thought he’d walked in the ninth inning against right-hander Vinnie Chulk, but as he was starting toward first, the pitch was called a strike. (That shows why Thames is a team player, and beloved by his teammates - he was more interested in getting on base than staying at the plate in a bid to extend his home-run streak.) “I thought it was outside a little...
