This is the time of the year when those who are eligible can file for Minor League free agency. To be eligible, basically, a player with six years of service after his first season can file if he is not on the 40-man roster. Here is this year's list . Florida (32) Pitchers : LHP Willie Collazo , RHP Matt Desalvo, RHP Nate Field, RHP Jonathan Fulton, RHP William Glen , RHP Clay Hensley , RHP Brian Lawrence...

Place Your Bids: The Citi Field Silent Auction

Before taking my seat in the Pepsi Porch for Friday night's Mets - Cubs game, I stopped by the game-used equipment silent auction, located at the top of the Jackie Robinson Rotunda escalators. The best items must have been won earlier this season, because these are some of the gems still available (with opening bid listed): Ramon Castro equipment bag: $300 Game used 2nd base from August 8, 2008 , innings...

Reyes goes deep again

Looks like Jose Reyes is getting the hang of this No. 3 hitter thing. He just homered off Willie Collazo -- this time righthanded -- in the sixth inning. That's two home runs and six RBI today for Reyes. The...

Points of Interest

Along with Gibbons and Sanches, the Marlins yesterday signed outfielder Michael Ryan, infielders Andy Gonzalez and John Lindsey, and pitchers Michael Wood, Willie Collazo and John Koronka to minor-league contracts. ( WVEC.com ) A possible trade of Hermida to the Mariners was scuttled because Seattle wouldn't include Adam Moore in the mix. ( ProspectInsider ) The chiropractor for the Marlins performs...

Minor News and Notes (1/05/2009)

Former Met farmhand Willie Collazo signed a minor league deal with the Florida Marlins, as reported by his agency . Lugo DFA

Well it's now official, there seemed to be some confusion as to who was being designated to make room for the players the Mets wanted to call-up. Initially it was reported that Lugo was designated but then Willie Collazo was on the actual transaction list. Then it was reported that both Collazo and Lugo were designated but while Collazo was removed from the 40 man roster Lugo's name remained. But on...

Mets Notes: Collazo, Pedro, Parnell, Ramon Martinez

• Lefthander Willie Collazo also has been designated for assignment to make roster room. • Pedro Martinez will spend the Milwaukee series in New York working out with his trainer Chris Correnti. • Jerry Manuel said he’d try to find a spot to use Bobby Parnell in relief, but it will be hard for Parnell to work his way up the pecking order in the bullpen in the four weeks left. Brian...

Pads still looking to move Meredith.....

The Mets may have more urgency to find relief help for the pen now that it appears Billy Wagner will be heading to the DL. Brian Stokes and Willie Collazo haven't been very impressive in New Orleans and both have over 6 ERAs in the majors. Burgos has begun to pitch but won't be ready until late Aug. or early Sept. Mets Prespectus makes a case for promoting Robert Parnell to join the rest of the kids...

Knight DFA'd, Collazo Recalled

Brandon Knight was designated for assignment Sunday so the New York Mets could add an extra arm to their bullpen after a 14-inning loss to the St. Louis Cardinals the previous night. The Mets called up left-hander Willie Collazo from Triple-A New Orleans after their relievers combined to pitch nine innings in the 10-8 loss to the Cardinals.

Tonight in the minors

With the majors off today here's a look around the Mets minors..... LHP Willie Collazo started for the Pacific Coast League AAA All-Star team against the International League All-Stars. Collazo pitched the first inning and while it was a rocky one he didn't allow a run. He faced six batters in which he gave up two hits and a walk while striking out one. PCL went on to win the game...... In other Zephyr...

Collazo being moved

Once again LHP Willie Collazo is showing his versatility, Collazo was primarily a left handed specialist reliever but the Mets decided to make him a starter. Collazo came up last year but had very little success, he pitched in relief in six games to an ERA of 6.35. To me he's a typical AAAA pitcher but the Mets seem to like him, after a long look in spring training they sent him to New Orleans where...

Mets Minor League Report 6-4-08

I thought Pedro looked even better than a Mets fan could reasonably have hoped on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, down in Georgia, the Gnats went deep five times in the first inning.
