Ike Davis had only one hit today, but that hit happened to be a solo home run. Davis' performance is becoming hard to over look and I'm sure if he keeps it up, there will be those who start to clamour for him to be the Mets 1B next year. Don't get me wrong I'm extremely impressed ( BA .414 / Slg. pct. .724) with Davis but still feel he needs seasoning in AAA especially since most of his power hits...

The Twins signed Dominican SS prospect Miguel Sano to a $3.15 million bonus last week; I'm not sure what's happening with Wagner Mateo, who's $3.1 million deal was recently voided by the Cardinals , but it seems like Sano will be the last member of the 2009 July 2 class to receive a seven-figure bonus. A current list of Latin American amateurs to sign million dollar deals follows after the jump.* I'm...

The player to be named later in the Billy Wagner, who barring an unforeseen incident will become Mets property shortly after the seasons end will be playing winter ball this year. Carter has been racking AAA for four straight years, posting a .304 BA with a .493 Slg. and .373 OBP. The 26 y/o left handed 1B/OF has been blocked most of his career due to his defense, originally in the Arizona system;...

View full size photo uploaded September 15, 2009 Justin from Basement Dwellers has been trying to find a reasonable comparison to Juan Francisco via Twitter. He's received some suggestions but hasn't quite been able to lock in on a name just yet. In Boston, they refer to the game of May 13, 2007 as "The Mother's Day Miracle." The Red Sox were trailing the Orioles, 5-0 in the ninth inning, and were being three-hit by Jeremy Guthrie. Julio Lugo led off the ninth and grounded out. Coco Crisp followed by popping up to the catcher. Or not. Ramon Hernandez muffed the ball, allowing Crisp to reach first base. For some reason, that resulted...

The last time the Mets needed a middle infielder, when Ramon Martinez went down, Argenis Reyes was on the minor league disabled list, so Omar went out and obtained Wilson Valdez. It now appears the Mets are hoping to stow Valdez back in AAA as an insurance plan, if he makes it through waivers and accepts assignment. Jerry Manuel hinted that the pitchers promoted ( Dessens/Misch) were temporary moves...

Yesterday's roster moves were quite curious, to say the least. Was the team looking to make room for a near future move or simply cleaning house. Javier Valentin and Bobby Kielty were on the minor league DL and not on the 40 man roster, so why cut them, when healthy they had to be considered helpful on a woefully awful Bison team. The Wily Mo Pena move baffles me the most, the guy was hitting very...
