Rule 5 possibilities

Now that teams are starting to finalize their rosters prior to today's deadline, I thought it might be fun to create a thread and look at some of the players who will be available to us in this year's Rule 5 draft. We'll be picking second in the draft order, and as such, should have a good opportunity to come away with a useful talent (or two?). Here are some of the options I like - please add your...

Another 40-man opinion

Another 40-man opinion Tony Lastoria makes his 40-man roster predictions prior to this Friday's deadline. Tony does a lot of wonderful minor league stuff but roster construction is not something I tend to agree with him on and this is no different. His prediction: "Seven players are added: Jordan Brown, Jason Donald, Jeanmar Gomez, Chuck Lofgren, Matt McBride, Yohan Pino, and Nick Weglarz. If...

Twins Notes: Mulvey, Crede, Baker, Penny, Lew...

Twins Notes: Mulvey, Crede, Baker, Penny, Lew!, and Grass Thanks to some nifty waiver-wire maneuvering , the Twins completed the Jon Rauch deal by sending Kevin Mulvey to the Diamondbacks as the player to be named later. Acquired as part of the four-player haul for Johan Santana two winters ago, Mulvey was fourth on Baseball America 's list of the Mets' top prospects at the time of the trade and was...

It seems like forever ago, but the trade that sent Carl Pavano to Minnesota has been completed as the Indians have received their PTBNL. His name is Yohan Pino, a tweener pitcher who has split the season between Double- and Triple-A, but also between the rotation and the bullpen. Allegedly, he had a stellar start to his [...]

Saturday Morning Breakfast & Baseball: Adios Yohan Pino, Joe Crede to the DL, Jose Morales Recalled, Armando Gabino to Rochester

Twins send Yohan Pino to Indians , completing swap for Carl Pavano . Usually, "PTBNL" translates to "rubbish". In this case Cleveland actually managed to pry a player of use from a deal that basically translated to a salary dump. Pino, an undrafted right-hander from Venezuela, was on his first stint at triple-A at age 25. He started six games for the Red Wings, the first time he...

Indians Acquire Yohan Pino To Complete Pavano Trade

The Indians have announced that they have acquired righthander Yohan Pino from the Twins as the player to be named later in this month's Carl Pavano trade.
