The Milwaukee Brewers were smart to decline starting pitcher Braden Looper's $6.5 million mutual option, freeing up a significant amount of money to plug various holes. Looper led baseball in home runs, checking in at 194.2 innings of a 5.22 ERA. I don't think serving up all those home runs are sustainable, so it's likely he returns to a mid-4.50s ERA next year. Is that good enough to bring him back...

This is outside my normal realm of analysis, but it's something I've wanted to address for a while. I'll get some Arizona Fall League Pitch F/x stuff up later in this week or early next week for sure. I'm not too much of a pitcher, but I sometimes get that role in stickball games. I often struggle with my control. I'm inside, outside, high, and low. It really has nothing to do with my concentration...

Voting results came out today, and Branyan finished 5th for the American League's Comeback Player Of The Year. Word has it he would have placed higher had he actually come back from something. Aaron Hill 's a decent enough pick, I guess, what with his brain problems a year ago, but I feel like rewarding people for getting knocked out by David Eckstein might be setting a bad precedent. Chris Carpenter...

Boxscore Gallardo closes out his season in style Right-hander reaches 200-strikeout mark This final outing should leave a sweeter taste on Yovani Gallardo's palate. The Milwaukee Brewers right-hander had a dismal start against the Chicago Cubs last week, and with his innings and pitch count climbing, the decision was made Friday that Gallardo would get one more start before being shelved for the season....
