The San Diego Padres, over the years, have been an absolute disaster of a parent club to the Beavers and this past season has been no exception. Not only did the team lose 84 games, it ran through 69 players and three managers during the season! Gee, it’s just shocking that the crowds were a little [...]

AP Photo/Chris Carlson Thanks to no offense and a couple of bad defensive plays, the Dodgers were defeated by the last place San Diego Padres 2-0. Padres starter Wade LeBlanc (1-1), who was recalled to the Padres from AAA Portland Beavers on August 29, pitched six shut out innings giving up only two singles and three...

Everyone lost tonight except, well you can probably guess who the only winning team was tonight. Iowa Cubs (64-62) The I-Cubs were battered by the Portland Beavers, 8-1. David Patton made a rehab start tonight for the I-Cubs, but it didn't go as well as the Big Z's did yesterday. Patton got the loss by allowing two runs over his 2.1 innings pitched. He gave up two hits, walked two and struck out one....

A quick look around the bases: --Darwin Barney, now with the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, is in Portland for a brief stretch this week to play the Portland Beavers. He went 2-for-4 in the series opener Tuesday, and again went 2-for-4 last night. If you'd like to get out to PGE Park to catch a game, you can do so through Friday. Ian Ruder had a nice feature on Darwin in this morning's Oregonian. The piece is...

Iowa Cubs 9, Portland Beavers 10 (13 inn) -Mitch Atkins looked awful tonight. Atkins gave up 6 runs on 6 hits through 4 innings, walking 3 and striking out 4. His ERA on the season is 7.08, and any hopes of him being a productive major league pitcher are rapidly diminishing. -John Gaub finally gave up a run, allowing one in 2 IP. He gave up a hit and K’d 1, but he also walked 3. His ERA in Iowa...

Sure. My internet is out all night and then comes back on just as I'm going to bed. Iowa Cubs The I-Cubs were dammed by the Portland Beavers 6-3. Starter Jeff Samardzija tossed four shutout innings tonight, allowing only one hit. He walked two and struck out three. The bullpen let him down, however. Justin Berg got credited with the loss after allowing two runs in the one inning he pitched. Shortstop...

Eric Stults will be making his first start since May 30. AP Photo/Chris Carlson Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of the Dodgers pitching rotation. As reported last night, the Dodgers brought up starter Eric Stults from AAA Albuquerque Isotopes. In order to make room on the 25-man roster, they sent infielder Tony Abreu back to Albuquerque before the game. Stults last pitched on Thursday...

AAA-Portland Beavers Beavers 8 Reno 7 F/10 Box Will Inman ONCE AGAIN gets shelled early and often. 6 ER on 7 hits in only 3 IP including 3 BBs 0 Ks and 2 HRs. In my opinion, Inman is pretty much done at this point and is a bust/non-prospect. He did decently in AA this season but his peripherals were still awful. At Portland this season, in 63 IP he's only Ked 41 but given up 83 Hs and 25 BBs giving...

As you all probably know if you participate in the open threads that I am much more interested in the Padres ' minor league system than I am the major league club right now. One of the major reasons for this is because there is a lot more talent in the minor leagues, not to mention two teams already in the playoffs by winning their half-season championships. Jbox suggested the other day that I do a...
