Reds Promote Seven

Seven players will be joining the Reds for the rest of the season: –SS Paul Janish –IF Danny Richar –IF Adam Rosales –SP Adam Pettyjohn –RP Josh Roenicke –RP Danny Herrera –RP Jon Adkins Two things. First, I’m disappointed that Redleg Nation Minor League Hitter of the Month Kevin Barker wasn’t among the callups. I know he doesn’t have a [...]

Call-ups set for today

Now that the Louisville Bats have been eliminated, the Reds are going to add to their active roster will these players: IF Paul Janish IF Adam Rosales IF Danny Richar RHP Josh Roenicke RHP Jon Adkins LHP Danny Herrera LHP Adam Pettyjohn Interesting to note no Homer Bailey. I think it’s a good idea to shut him down. What purpose does bringing him [...]

Ramirez In, Rosales Out

Ramon Ramirez was activated to make today's start, and Adam Rosales was optioned to Louisville to make roster room. This is only a worry until tomorrow, because on Monday, September 1 the team can have as many as 40 players on the major league roster.

Hairston to DL, Rosales Returns

Jerry Hairston has returned to the disabled list, and Adam Rosales has been recalled to take his roster spot. Perhaps Rosales will get to start a game this time.

Farmers only: Not such a great start by Homer

Rosales Triple-A: Homer Bailey gave up 9 more hits, but Jon Adkins blew up in the ninth, allowing 3 runs in Louisville's 7-6 loss . Adam Rosales was 3 for 5 with a homer, continuing his conquest of the minor leagues, and Wilkin Castillo moved to 3rd base and collected a couple hits. Justin Lehr threw two strong innings, and despite the loss, the Bats gained ground on the playoffs thanks to Toledo's...

Farmers only: Why so much rain in Casper?

McKennon Triple-A: The Bats' magic number is 3 after beating Columbus 7-5 , their 7th straight win and 15th in 16 August games. Adam Rosales was 2 for 5 with a double in his first game back, and Josh Roenicke gave up 2 runs in the ninth before Daniel Ray Herrera shut things down. High A: Juan Francisco and Todd Frazier doubled, but Sarasota was drilled 15-2 . Logan Parker had a 2-RBI single, and Zach...

Votto Back

As expected, Joey Votto was reinstated from the bereavement list, and Adam Rosales sent back to Louisville. Rosales never got a start, and was 1-for-5 as a pinch-hitter. Javier Valentin nonetheless got the start at first base tonight.

Crazy Lineup Choices

When Dusty Baker says, "I haven't given up on the season," I guess we should translate that to mean, "so I won't play the kids we need to find out about." Andy Phillips and Corey Patterson are in tonight's lineup rather than Adam Rosales and Chris Dickerson. Why? We already know what A. Phillips and Patterson can do. Isn't it time to give Rosales and Dickerson a shot? Isn't that why, or partly why,...

Votto on Leave

Before last night's game, the Reds put Joey Votto on bereavement leave for an unspecified reason (at his request) and called up Adam Rosales. To make 40-man roster room, they designated injured Marcus McBeth for assignment. Rosales was batting .281 at Louisville, while McBeth has posted a 6.20 ERA in the 24 games he has been able to pitch there. Javier Valentin got the first call to play first base,...

Farmers only: Maloney and Thompson return

Maloney Triple-A: Matt Maloney returned to the Bats, striking out 7 in 5 innings and allowing a run in a 7-1 win , putting Louisville up 10 games in the International League West. Adam Rosales was 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and a homer and is 14 for 23 in his past 5 games with 8 extra-base hits. Ryan Hanigan , Shaun Cumberland and Drew T. Anderson added 2 hits apiece. Double-A: Sam Lecure struck out 9...

Farmers only: The Backyardigan

Hanigan Triple-A: Drew T. Anderson homered and Ryan Hanigan was 5 for 5 in Louisville's 8-4 win . Adam Rosales , Chris Dickerson and Danny Richar each had 2 hits, and Carlos Fisher and Daniel Ray Herrera combined for 5 strikeouts. Hanigan's batting average is up to .323 with a respectable .808 OPS. The Bats, by the way, have won 8 of 9, are 8 games ahead of Toledo for first place in the International...

Farmers only: Harang is close

Harang Triple-A: Aaron Harang struck out 6 in 6 innings and Adam Rosales , Drew T. Anderson and Chris Dickerson had 3 hits each in Louisville's 11-0 win . It was Harang's first start since July 8, what with his strained right forearm. He seems ready to go for the Reds, but he might get one more start with the Bats. Paul Janish was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs. Jeffords Double-A: Jeff Jeffords had...

Farmers only: Zach strikes back

Jukich Triple-A: Ben Jukich got roughed up again as the Bats lost 10-5 . He has an 8.68 ERA in his 2 starts for Louisville. Adam Rosales was 2 for 4, and Michael Griffin and Luis Bolivar homered. Rob Mackowiak went hitless again, and his batting average is down to .284. Not to harp on it, but a lot of good that 18-game (corrected) hit streak did. Double-A: The Lookouts managed just 4 hits in a 7-1...

Farmers only: Better wear a helmet and some chain mail if you're planning on taking in a Peoria game any time soon

Dorn Triple-A: Adam Rosales had a double and his 8th homer and Josh Roenicke got a strikeout and induced a double play to escape an 8th-inning jam as the Bats held on 4-3 . Ryan Hanigan went 3 for 4 to push his average up over .300. Francisco Double-A: Chattanooga lost 3-2 and won 3-1 . Chris Valaika went 3 for 4 in Game 1, and Drew Stubbs had 2 hits. Danny Dorn (14) and Justin Turner (6) homered...
