With two outs, Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell had back-to-back singles, both right up the middle into center field. But Jason Varitek's shot deflected off pitcher Doug Davis and he was out at first on the throw from 3B Augie Ojeda. Boston, by the way, now bathed in a golden light, with the dark sky as backdrop. Looks a bit like Oz.

Well, we survived Augie Ojeda (7 for 14 in the series!), today's installment of Bullpen Roulette ("Some Met will be ineffective! Which one? Don't you wish you knew!") and an OK but not sky-high effort by Johan Santana (yeah, he needed nearly 120 pitches to get through six, but the Diamondbacks are freaking good , and wise beyond their years in the batter's box) to win two of three against the NL's...

Cristian Guzman Augie Ojeda James Loney All three players had 6 RBI games today. That's the first time that there have been three different players with 6 or more RBI in a game in one day since September 18, 2006 when Aramis Ramirez of the Cubs (with 7) and Jeff Baker and Garret Atkins (both of Colorado and both with 6) did it.
