Nats make a good trade partner.....

Approximately two wees ago Joel Sherman of the NY Post suggested Austin Kearns for our corner outfield hole. To be honest at the time it didn't look like a good match to me, but the Nats just traded their closer Jon Rauch to the DBacks and their former closer Chad Cordero is out for the season ( along with being released). That leaves the Nats using Jon Hanrahan as the closer, the 27 y/o reliever has...

Harris drives in 5 as Nationals rout Braves

The Washington Nationals, again led by former Braves outfielder Willie Harris, made Atlanta look like a former contender. Harris drove in five runs and reached base five times, Jesus Flores had five hits and Austin Kearns hit a two-run homer as the Nationals...

Congrats to Austin Kearns on his 100th HR!

Curses to the MASN/MASN2 thing, though. I heard the first three innings on the radio in the car, and as much as I love Charlie and Dave, I wanted to rewind and *see* Bobby Cox jawing with the umpire after being ejected. Unfortunately, the DVR was recording MASN, not MASN2 as it has no way [...]

A Laugher!

Injured to Start!

Wily Mo NO MO for atleast two months. It seemed like the big guy was hurt for a while. Much like Austin Kearns was battling an injury for most of the early season before his trip to the DL. Da Meat Hook needs to address the diabetes. No joke. It's a tough life to constantly be keeping to the program, but the life of a big leaguer is a cherished one. I hope and pray the big fella keeps his pace. P.S....

Weekend Observations

OK that’s a little better. Although, seriously, against that band of rejects, the Reds really should sweep a four-game series. Does anyone miss Austin Kearns? Felipe Lopez? Dmitri Young? Sily Mo? Aaron Boone? Me neither. There’s a reason we got rid of them. They stink…and bad!!! Thought the camo jerseys were ridiculous looking. Appreciate the reason for [...]

Kearns back in the lineup after surgery

CINCINNATI | The return of a .187 hitter isn't often treated as a welcome development for a big league ballclub. The Washington Nationals, though, will take all the offense they can get right now, so Austin Kearns' return Thursday night following a six-week stint on the disabled list qualified as a significant event.

Pirates vs. Reds, 2 June 2008

John Van Benschoten vs. Daryl Thompson , 7:10 PM. I'm not sure how much of this game I'm going to be able to see, but I'm interested in checking out Thompson. You may recall that he was the minor league pitcher the Reds got in the Austin Kearns - Felipe Lopez deal. Former Reds GM Wayne Krivsky was lambasted by nearly everyone (including me) for that trade, which seemed like an absolutely boneheaded,...

Nats put up their Dukes

It took an injury to teammate Austin Kearns for it to happen. But Nationals outfielder Elijah Dukes now has a golden chance to prove he is an everyday player in the major leagues.
