Normally mild-mannered Brewers general manager Doug Melvin reportedly stormed away during talks with Cashman on Thursday morning about a trade that would have sent center fielder Mike Cameron and utilityman Bill Hall to the Yankees for center fielder Melky Cabrera and left-handed starter Kei Igawa . According to sources, Melvin became infuriated when the Yankees asked the Brewers to pay part of Cameron's...

I doubt all four will end up in pinstripes, but if the New York Yankees open the 2008 season with CC Sabathia (already signed), Ben Sheets, Mike Cameron, and Bill Hall, I hope they enjoy wearing Sabathia out to make the playoffs, only to get their asses kicked in the first round. Of course, this doesn't bode particularly well for the Crew's playoff chances in '09, but maybe the Yanks will be willing...

It’s not a done deal yet, but the Yankees are close to obtaining Milwaukee CF Mike Cameron in exchange for Melky Cabrera. The teams considered expanding the deal to include Bill Hall. But the Yankees would have wanted the Brewers to pick up some of Hall’s contract (two years and $15.7 million) or take a bad [...]

So Mike Lamb is back for 2009. Bill Hall will also be back, and Casey McGehee is also in the mix. All are considered primarily third basemen (although Hall is more versatile than Lamb or McGehee), and all will likely compete for a spot in a third base platoon in spring training, where the winners will likely hold the spot warm for Mat Gamel. Gamel is one of three Brewer position player prospects (including...

The Brewers are set to announce that they’ve resigned incumbent third baseman and ex-Yankee Mike Lamb, which likely puts Bill Hall out on the trade market. Ken Rosenthal and Ed Price noted that the Yanks have interest in CC Sabathia’s close friend (8:44pm post), who would presumably take the role of primary utility man and [...]

Nick Punto wouldn’t be a bad backup utility infielder. He hits for a solid average and has speed. His 2008 Stats: .284AVG 2HR 28RBI 43R 15SB. Bill Hall could fit that same role as well. His #’s look like this: .225AVG 15HR 55RBI 50R 5SB. I would prefer Punto over Hall because of the batting average and [...]
