I follow baseball, but rarely post on the subject. I feel we have enough sports in our society already. But I feel compelled to voice my frustration that Brad Ausmus is again the starting catcher for the Houston Astros. The Astros’ might reply that they tried to make Mr. Ausmus the back-up this year, but his intended replacement played poorly. I [...]

Brad Ausmus and Cecil Cooper were ejected minutes apart in the seventh inning by Angel Campos, the same umpire who had thrown out Cooper during the Astros' series with the Texas Rangers in Arlington on May 18.

The "Let a crappy-hitting Brad Ausmus teach a crappy-hitting J.R. Towles" project is over for the time being . Long overdue. Way, way long overdue. Let's hope that Cruz Junior is soon to follow.

HOUSTON -- At 41, ex-Tiger Doug Brocail is the oldest player on the Houston Astros roster. He felt like a kid again when Darin Erstad and Brad Ausmus turned a remarkable double play to end Houston's 4-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday night.

Have you ever seen anything as amazing as Jose Valverde staying in the game after taking one off the side of the face? ''A naked guy taking the mound at Wrigley Field,'' Mark Loretta said. ''Billy Spiers getting attacked in right field,'' Brad Ausmus said. ``The whole team charged right field in County Stadium,'' Loretta said. ''I'm thinking there's a fight in the bullpen. You see melee after melee....

Lance Berkman and Brad Ausmus both hit two-run homers to pace the Astros' offense on a night when Miguel Tejada drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh to beat the Giants 6-3 before a crowd of 33,070.

Tom Kirkendall takes a look at the Astros season so far. Average team... things to be hopeful about and things to be concerned about. Jose Cruz is an absolute misery at the plate. Call up Brandon Backe to pinch-hit, dammit. JR Towles is making Brad Ausmus look good at the plate now. Mark Loretta is fading. If Michael Bourn continues to bat under his weight, it'll be a test of Cecil Cooper. Garner...

Golf Road Chapter Two (continued from )I lurched around grabbing up all the shreds I could find. After reading the name on the first piece I’d noticed—Brad Ausmus—I didn't waste any more time looking at names. I just wanted to gather up everything I could before the bus came. The pieces were light and jagged. They weren't weather-beaten, but they were slightly curled, like old photographs. They were...

Before a pitcher kicked Astro butt with BAT, I was gonna call this one “Brad Ausmus Uses Randy Johnson For Batting Practice And Gets His BA Back Up To His Weight.” Ah well… Shawn Chacon gets his 6th no-decision, again leaving the game when the Astros were ahead, only to have the bullpen blow it. The guy [...]

Adam Wainwright threw behind Brad Ausmus Saturday after a Cardinals player was hit by a pitch. Since MLB recently established that offense requires a suspension, will Adam have to ride the pine? Also, since Wainwright is a starter, shouldn't the...

Now this is what the 2008 Houston Astros offense should be doing. Every Astros starter except for catcher Brad Ausmus recorded at least one hit tonight, with shortstop Miguel Tejada doing the most damage with his 4-5, 3 RBI's and 3 runs scored including a double and a home run. Tejada raised his average on the season to .342 with his best offensive performance of the year. Lance Berkman added a home...

JR. Towles took one on the hand yesterday, but it looks like he's going to be fine with a little rest. Brad Ausmus came in to pinch-run for him. And promptly got bagged in a run-down. I wonder if he'll teach that trick to JR. He's already taught him "How to bat .200 and keep a job in the Major Leagues."
