MIAMI - Daniel Murphy sure knows how to break out of a slump. The Mets' rookie left fielder did it in style Wednesday night in Philadelphia, ending what had been a miserable stretch with an eighth-inning RBI double off All-Star closer Brad Lidge...

In the eighth inning of last night’s come-for-behind win versus the Phillies, Daniel Murphy, who was mired in an 0-for-16 slump, came to the plate with the scored tied at three with two on and two out to face Phillies closer Brad Lidge. Murphy lined a clutch double to left to score the go-ahead run and [...]

The Phillies lack of offense continues. With two runs tonight, they've scored seven in their last four games. Cole Hamels and Brad Lidge, however, combined to allow the Padres just one run. Hamels wasn't striking batters out, but he walked...

Billy Wagner went on the disabled list, retroactive to August 3, and since then, the Mets’ bullpen has had a well-documented, topsy-turvey ride. While he was never officially placed on the disabled list, Brad Lidge hasn’t seen action since August 8, thus causing the Phillies’ pen to spin a bit out of control. The Phillies were [...]

And the Phillies postseason chances, apparently. Can someone look in Hurdle’s history to see why he would do such a thing? May want to peer into Omar Minaya’s bank records while you’re at it. But he also acknowledged that the way he was used at the All-Star Game did not help matters. Colorado Rockies manager Clint [...]

So says Brad Lidge: “Put it this way, before the All-Star Game, it was feeling a little, maybe like I had a tiny bit of tendinitis in there, not bad,” Lidge said. “If I would have just thrown regular at the All-Star Game . . . it probably would have gone away, because I had the [...]

LOS ANGELES - The most important right shoulder on the Phillies played long toss yesterday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. So the shoulder still works. But how well?

Charlie Manuel thinks that Phillies closer Brad Lidge may have been hurt in the All-Star game, as he was asked to warm up 6 times and reportedly threw over 100 pitches. This is insane, and Manuel is right to be pissed off. However, if there's one thing we know about ESPN commentator and former Mets GM Steve Phillips, it's that he can be counted on to make an idiot out of himself even when the facts...

Take a nap after work. Brew a pot of coffee in the sixth inning. Do whatever it takes to keep those eyes open and that television on until Brad Lidge comes out of the bullpen one of these next few nights in Los Angeles. You could be watching the defining moment of the Phillies' season before September even comes around.

This sentence from Yahoo! sports makes me shudder, "Phillies closer Brad Lidge was unavailable because of stiffness in his right shoulder." Phillies.com has an entire article here with a little more info. I'm going to take a naive postive approach to this and assume he'll be fine in a day or so, but if I even here "MRI" or "Dr. James Andrews" I'm jumping out of the window... -------------------------...

Holy schnikes, almost didn't pull that one out. Brad Lidge gave Phils fans a few heart attacks last night, hell make that a baker's dozen. In the end everything is fine and dandy though, as Lidge converted his 28th save of the season; extending the Phils lead in the NL East to 2.5 games over the Marlins and 3 games over the Mets. Brett Myers went 6 quality innings, throwing only 64 pitches (46 for...

ST. LOUIS - Brad Lidge says earning a save in the big leagues is never easy. They're usually a heckuva lot easier than this, though.
