The Mets have made a move prior to the series with the Rockies, they have sent down OF Chris Aguila and called up Robinson Cancel. The Mets tried carrying a third catcher under Willie Randolph and the concept never worked. The idea was to have light hitting Brian Schnieder work with the starting rotation while Castro was to be used as a pinch hitter late in games with either Cancel or Casanova in reserve...

The inevitable finally happened and the Mets placed Luis Castillo on the disabled list. The Mets brought up from Triple-A New Orleans infielder Argenis Reyes and outfielder Chris Aguila. Pitcher Carlos Muniz was optioned after last night's game.
