Clete Thomas was fresh off the disabled list when Tigers manager Jim Leyland wrote him into the lineup -- batting seventh, playing leftfield -- on June 21 in San Diego. Thomas was excited. It would be his first start in more than two weeks. But before batting practice, he felt a pop in his right arm while playing catch with teammate Curtis Granderson.

The Tigers have decided on six of the seven players who will represent the organization in this year's Arizona Fall League, the Free Press has learned. The team has chosen four pitchers, all of them right-handers: starter Luis Marte and relievers Rudy Darrow, Casey Fien and Zach Simons.
