ESPN has its All-Star projections up , and not surprisingly, Jon Lester isn't among them. I can't muster a great argument for him, but conversely they project Daisuke Matsuzaka as making the squad. International politics aside, I don't see that as being likely either. ............... In what should come as a surprise to no one, Daisuke Matsuzaka has already walked four of the first eight batters he faced in tonight's game. That's not exactly a good percentage, though only one of those players has scored. (And, technically, it was B.J. Upton, who reached on a fielder's choice, who came across the plate.) It's 1-1 in the second inning.

So, the month of June ends with the Red Sox 1 1/2 games behind the Rays in the AL East. I thought it would be interesting to see what actually happened in June, as the Red Sox played the entire month without David Ortiz, and with Daisuke Matsuzaka on the DL for most of it. In addition, they're as far behind as they've been all year (or at least close to it) and they're coming off three consecutive...
This weekend could go a long way toward relaxing things in the home clubhouse. Boston ran out its three top starters — Josh Beckett, Jon Lester and Daisuke Matsuzaka — and the Astros won two of three anyway, Richard Justice writes.

By Ian Browne / MLB.com : As quickly as panic can set in among that ravenous fan base known as Red Sox Nation, it can disappear. Worried about Daisuke Matsuzaka just because his first start back from the disabled list was the worst -- not to mention shortest -- of his Major League career? It's officially time to fret about something else. Matsuzaka rebounded in a big way on Friday night, shutting...
Daisuke Matsuzaka went five innings only allowing two hits while striking out for to improve to 9-1 on the season with a little help from a J.D. Drew three run homer in the third inning. Dustin Pedroia added to the score in the seventh with an RBI single giving Boston a 4-0 lead and they never [...]
HOUSTON (AP) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka limited the Astros to two hits in five scoreless innings and the Boston Red Sox won their first-ever regular-season game in Houston, 6-1 on Friday night.
In their first trip to Minute Maid Park, the Red Sox came away with a 6-1 win over the Astros. Daisuke Matsuzaka took the win, with Jonathan Papelbon recording the save.
It was hard to predict exactly how Daisuke Matsuzaka would pitch last night. After he was shelled for seven runs in one inning plus against the Cardinals last Saturday, Matsuzaka's stuff and his strength were in question as he stepped to the hill in Minute Maid Park. Not even Jason Varitek, crouched behind the plate, knew what he ...
