Daisuke Matsuzaka might have thrown 31 pitches in the bottom of the fifth inning, giving up two walks and a single, but he did manage to leave the bases loaded. That leaves the score at 3-0, with new pitcher Chris Sampson coming in for Runelvys Hernandez, who was pinch hit for (Darin Erstad) in the last half inning.

They got a nice game from Michael Bourn and a big hit from Darin Erstad on Saturday, and they've won 14 of 19 and remain 2 1/2 games out of first in the National League Central. Give Cecil Cooper credit for trying something new. He went to Doug Brocail instead of Jose Valverde in the ninth and got Carlos Lee off the field in favor of Darin Erstad. It worked out for a 2-1 victory. Cooper has a convenient excuse for using Brocail since Valverde had thrown so many pitches the night before. If he has a game to close Thursday, he'll probably go back to Valverde. But the dynamics...
