Last night, July 7, 2008, featured perhaps the most amazing and underrated event in baseball history. Two Allard Baird prodigies, Runelvys Hernandez and Denny Bautista, got decisions in the same game, for the Astros and Pirates, respectively. Some would say that the real story was that there are at least 2 other GM's in MLB who also believe that the above-referenced players belong on an MLB roster....

Zach Miner paid the price for a 4 walk effort on Tuesday night with an assignment to Toledo. Aquilino Lopez who was being stretched out as a starter has been recalled to provide a strike thrower in the pen. Both moves are warranted, but my first thought when hearing of this was Denny Bautista. [...]

According to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates acquired 25 year-old reliever Denny Bautista from the Tigers today for 23 year-old minor league reliever Kyle Pearson. Bautista seems like a reasonable project for the Bucs to toss into the back of their bullpen. Bautista averages 94-95 mph with his fastball, but five organizations have already given up on him.

No sorry not Joel Zumaya but the guy who effectively filled in for him while he was injured. Denny Bautista is a 27 y/o right handed relief pitcher who produced an ERA of 3.32 in 16 appearances ( 19 innings), he allowed one home run and only seven runs. Until this year his numbers have not been pretty bad on the major league level, but he has been traded by four consecutive teams (Marlins, Orioles,...

Blame it on Joel Zumaya . Blame it on Fernando Rodney . Blame it on Freddy Dolsi . But there wasn't a spot available for Denny Bautista in the Detroit Tigers' bullpen, and it appears that Dave Dombrowski thinks that's a permanent development. Jon Paul Morosi reports that Dombrowski believes he'll be able to trade Bautista this week, after discussions with a few teams left him feeling "optimistic"...

"I've had conversations with clubs, but you never know until you get to the final stages of discussion." BRIGHT FUTURE:...
