With the minor league season ending, I’m going to run through a review of the organization on a position-by-position basis and give a brief look at how it stacks up against the rest of baseball. MLB.com's T.R. Sullivan has three more names for the cleared waivers list from the Rangers: Kevin Millwood, Vicente Padilla, and Frank Catalanotto. These players can now be traded to any team. Sullivan says the Rangers aren't looking to sell but are willing to listen. Millwood, 33, has a 5.24 ERA in 122 innings this year. He's been better than that; Millwood has been a victim of an abnormal amount...

The Rangers are putting the Sox bullpen to the test. And they are failing. Against Aardsma, Hamilton opened the sixth with a walk, and Bradley and Byrd singled, getting one run across. Manny DelCarmen relieved for the Sox, but it was no relief. Frank Catalanotto doubled to deep right, despite a leaping try by J.D. Drew to snag the ball, scoring Bradley, and Laird's sacrifice fly to right scored Byrd...

...not with a bang, but with a whimper. All reports from the local media are that there are no Rangers trades coming down today. Nelson Cruz is not on the 40 man roster, so he can be traded after today. Frank Catalanotto will clear waivers, one would imagine -- and if he doesn't, the Rangers would probably let him go to the claiming team -- so he can still be moved in August.

According to Dan Graziano of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Mets had a scout watching the Rangers last night. Graziano suggests Marlon Byrd as a possible player of interest. First baseman/left fielder Frank Catalanotto may be available, but he comes with a $6MM commitment beyond this year. Lefty reliever Eddie Guardado is another possibility. The Rangers don't seem compelled to trade starting pitching...

Oddities and Quirks ... Last night, former Jay Frank Catalanotto and his current Ranger teammate Jarrod Saltalamacchia had back-to-back RBI at-bats for Texas. It was a history-making event (we think) as Salty has the longest last/family name in major league history (14 letters -- sorry, William "Unlucky 13" Van Landingham) while Cat, with 11 letters in his own last/family name, ain't far behind that....

Frank Catalanotto is playing first base today. That tells me that Ben Broussard is likely gone when Marlon Byrd is ready to come off the d.l.
