If you're in a blaming mood, Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Angels offers a target-rich environment. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard failed to deliver in the first inning after Jimmy Rollins and Greg Dobbs reached base to start the game. So Taguchi ended the game with a horrible, horrible at-bat just as it seemed LAA closer Francisco Rodriguez was coming apart. Pat Burrell was 0 for 4, and the whole lineup...

Manny Ramirez is out of Boston’s lineup when the visiting Red Sox face Kyle Kendrick (6-2, 4.54) and the Phillies in the rubber match of their three-game set. Rookie Justin Masterson (3-1, 2.90) goes for Boston. Lineups have been posted: Geoff Jenkins, Greg Dobbs and Carlos Ruiz earn starts against the right-hander. Unless Chris Coste is hurt, Ruiz’s insertion in the starting lineup, after the night...

MIAMI - Although Pedro Feliz entered last night with just five hits in his previous 33 at-bats, and Greg Dobbs entered the same juncture with 14 hits in his previous 32, don't read too much into the fact that Dobbs has started the last two games at third base.

Pat Gillick claimed Greg Dobbs off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Jan. 16, 2007. Fan reaction? Tumbleweeds, mostly. Dobbs had played parts of three seasons with the Mariners, but nobody in Philadelphia really knew him. They certainly know him today, as he has been one of Gillick's finest acquisitions with the Phillies. Dobbs hit .272 with 10 home runs and 55 RBIs last

ON A MUGGY night that hinted the long, hot haul of the summer ahead, Greg Dobbs wore the sweat-soaked shirt of a man with one too many jobs - or one too few.

WASHINGTON - Greg Dobbs stepped into the batter's box in the ninth inning last night without the tightness he had felt in his back since he tweaked it Monday at Nationals Park.

WASHINGTON - OK, it would be a much better story if Greg Dobbs had milked it a little more. We're talking Kirk Gibson, I-don't-believe-what-I-just-saw milking it. And, come to think of it, it would be a better story if Dobbs had hit a home run and ran around the bases pumping his fist, and if the lights at Nationals Park had exploded, and if corny theme music had started playing.

Gordon (4-2) earned the win with a scoreless eighth. Brad Lidge pitched the ninth for his 11th save in 11 chances. Lidge walked two, but got Felipe Lopez to ground out with runners on first and third to end the game.
