Jay Bruce: General Manager

What would Jay Bruce do? Bruce likes the idea of taking a flyer on Rocco Baldelli. Bruce likes the Mark DeRosa ideal: “He can rake.” But Bruce was reminded by somneone who would know that DeRosa cost a Johnny Cueto. “I wouldn’t do that,” he said. He wouldn’t give up Homer Bailey for Jermaine Dye. “Homer’s 22,” Bruce said. “That [...]

On Homer Bailey’s Mechanics

Via Slyde, I see this in-depth look at the pitching mechanics of Homer Bailey. I don’t really know what to make of it, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Especially this part: Homer Bailey is a textbook example of how not to throw a baseball, right up there with Anthony Reyes, B.J. Ryan, and Mark Prior. Ouch.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reports that the White Sox and Reds continue have discussions centering around veteran OF Jermaine Dye and SP Homer Bailey. Dye Trades Dead?

From SI.com's Jon Heyman: A person familiar with the White Sox's thinking said late Monday night, "The Jermaine Dye trades are dead ... for tonight, anyway.'' Heyman says the Rays, Braves, and Reds were among ten teams to to express interest. He adds that Homer Bailey alone would not have been enough.

Baker: Bailey has big upside

Reds manager Dusty Baker hasn't seen Homer Bailey at his best. After all, Bailey went 0-6 with a 7.93 ERA for the Reds last season. But he understands why Bailey's name keeps coming up in trade rumors.

McCoy to White Sox: "Your Ship Ain't So Tight"

McCoy to White Sox: "Your Ship Ain't So Tight" So far, on this chilly Monday afternoon in Dayton, there has been no confirmation or announcement on the trade of pitcher Homer Bailey to the Chicago White Sox (with a couple of minor-leaguers tossed in) for outfielder Jermaine Dye. As many of you might suspect - because there is no LAS VEGAS dateline on my newspaper stories, I am NOT at the winter meetings....

Breaking news broken up thanks to ESPN editors

An update to the earlier ridicule of ESPN as it reported a Jermaine Dye for Homer Bailey deal at 11:30 CT. It's 1 a.m. and a good job of editing as that part was edited out of its pre-recorded overnight SC. Apparently someone's reading this blog. Maybe.
