If there’s one industry that is poised on the precipice of destruction in a time of financial crisis, I’d predict it’s record companies that are about to imitate the myth of lemming suicide. I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and I’m not the only one, as Jamie Burke’s presentation shows (hat tip to Dave [...]

On a dreary Fashion Week day, I popped into the Elise Overland Spring presentation. It was an evening function, so glasses were being sipped and — oh look, it's hottie Jamie Burke, blush — Safari-inspired clothes were being modeled. Elise Overland is no newcomer, and her clothes continue to receive praise and press alike. I caught up with the designer, who was chatting with friends Courtney Cox Arquette...

Our "Prose on Pros" series continues today with a look at Mariner's backup catcher Jamie Burke. Burke (not to be confused with this Jamie Burke ) played both football and baseball at Oregon State in the early '90's. At the age of 35 and after 14 years in the minors, he's finally found a home with the (last place) Mariners. We now welcome in Jeff from Lookout Landing to tell us about Jamie. And as...

Garrett Neff, Toms Birkavs and Jamie Burke are all in the new issue of HE Magazine by Marcelo Krasilcic. We love the way how furniture pieces work well with the summer nudity. It is natural and not too explicit, and...

Mariners backup catcher Jamie Burke made a relief appearance in a 15-inning game against Detroit on Sunday and took the loss. As expected, he received a bunch of phone calls and text messages afterwards saying things like "saw you pitch on TV! That's cool! LOL!" Turns out Burke didn't really want to talk about it. "I'm not trying to sound rude at all. ... It just gets old when you have 30 phone calls...

OAKLAND, Calif.: Jamie Burke's last appearance as a pitcher came more than six years ago. That didn't deter the Mariners backup catcher from taking the mound when his manager asked him to Sunday.

The sad tale of Jamie Burke taking the loss for the Mariners Sunday made me interested in looking up why another position player got a win. And that was Rocky Colavito of the Yankees back on August 25, 1968.

An afternoon of tremendous pitching by both sides came to this: The Seattle Mariners tried using backup catcher Jamie Burke on the mound in a 1-1 game. Detroit's scuffling offense gladly took advantage. Marcus Thames' sacrifice fly scored pinch-runner...

Suffice it to say, Todd Jones was a little more accustomed to late-inning work than the right-hander who pitched the final inning for Seattle: Jamie Burke, a backup catcher, became the seventh Mariner to pitch Sunday.
