Phillies Advance: Phillies 6, Brewers 2 Pat Burrell and former Dodger Jayson Werth both homered in the four-run third, and that was enough to carry the Phillies to their first NLCS since 1993. Burrell got a second jack in the eighth, a solo shot that just added an exclamation point on a fine series for him; he went 3-for-4 with four RBIs in yesterday's game. Prince Fielder also homered, but it was...

The Philadelphia Phillies found plenty of power to go with their pitching, right in time for the NL championship series. Pat Burrell broke out of his slump in a big way with two homers, one a three-run shot, and Jimmy Rollins and Jayson Werth added solo drives Sunday to lead the Phillies to a 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers that clinched their first trip to the NLCS since 1993.

JAYSON WERTH stood on the top of the dugout steps and proclaimed himself OK. The Phillies rightfielder had just taken his final swing of batting practice before last night's National League Division Series Game 2 matchup with the Brewers, where he attempted to fix what he labeled a "mechanical failure" in his swing that led him to go 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Game 1.

Well, that worked out well for the Phillies. Manager Charlie Manuel dropped Jayson Werth from second to sixth and moved Shane Victorino from sixth to second in the lineup for Game 2 of the National League division series against Milwaukee last night at Citizens Bank Park.

Here is a look at the finer points of last night's 5-2 Phillies victory. Think two Extra-base hits are often born in the first 15 feet out of the batter's box. Jayson Werth showed just how important it is to get out of the box quickly in the Phillies' 5-2 win over Milwaukee in Game 2 of the National League Division Series last night.

ALL RIGHT, so that Freddy Garcia trade didn't work out so well. And signing Adam Eaton to that 3-year, $24.5 million contract doesn't seem like the brightest idea at this point. And Geoff Jenkins pretty much lost his job to Jayson Werth.

...I arrive home in the top of the fifth with DC down 2-1 after Nationals' left fielder Roger Bernadina singles, takes second on a sac bunt and scores on an RBI double by Anderson Hernandez. The Phillies quickly take back the lead in the bottom of the fifth, with Jayson Werth leading off by blasting a solo shot to right for a 3-1 Phils' lead. Philly lefty Jamie Moyer has a 3-1 lead through the top...

Jayson Werth hit a fifth-inning solo homer and Pat Burrell and Carlos Ruiz each drove in a run but Pedro Feliz had the biggest hit of the day for the Phillies, an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth.
