Let's play two in a gimmicky way in June

Instead of dealing with media blackouts and questionable May weather, the Yanks and Mets are going to send their stadiums out in style in June with a two-stadium, one-city double header, date TBD. The Yanks will skip Darrell Rasner’s start, and Andy Pettitte will face Johan Santana tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. Now stop reading [...]

Crosstown Traffic: Mets-Yanks Gamer I

Pete says that despite the rain, they are going to try and get the game in, but it is likely to be a delayed start. It's fitting that the first game of the subway rivalry will feature Johan Santana for the Mets, and perhaps equally fitting that call-up Darrell Rasner...

Forecast update …

They'll try to play, but it doesn't look good. The last thing the Mets want is to start and burn Johan Santana for a few innings. They know the weather isn't promising, but sell those damn hot dog, beer and caps. Take the non-refundable, $17-per-car parking money. After that, then make them wait.

It's Santana vs. Pettitte as rains set lefty duel

Heavy rain may have knocked out round one of this year's Subway Series, but the inclement weather has set up a battle of big-name lefthanders Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. Johan Santana will pitch for the Mets and Andy Pettitte for the Yankees.

Gameday: Mets @ Yankees Game 1

If you're a big fan of the subway series, you're in for a treat. If you hate it…well, I hope you have something else to do this weekend. Mets. Yankees. Yankee Stadium. One last time before they blow the place up. Assuming its nice enough to play about an hour ago, Johan Santana takes the mound. [...]

Price of Bonds too high

SAN FRANCISCO -- This could have been a weekend of intensified intrigue, when Barry Bonds got his first taste of the Subway Series while wearing New York Yankee pinstripes and taking his hacks against the Mets' Johan Santana in the Bronx. Or Bonds could have made his triumphant return to an N.L. yard with the A's as they played in Atlanta. read more

Subway Series: Part 3

Seeing how Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy have been struggling, would you do the Philip Hughes / Ian Kennedy / Melky Cabrera for Johan Santana deal today? Why or why not? I was hoping the Yanks made that deal over the winter although many Yankee fans I know–including my co-host at Bronx Banter Cliff and [...]

Dodger Thoughts: Pitching a Fit

With the support of most of his staff, Yankee general manager Brian Cashman placed his faith in young pitchers Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes instead of packaging them in a Johan Santana deal. As Jon Heyman writes at SI.com, Cashman's now taking heat for his decision from new Yankee emperor Hank Steinbrenner. Anyone can see that it's too soon to judge the merits of the decision.
