The ninth inning of this one may feel important right now-- Yadier Molina gift-wrapped three runs for the Pirates with an inexplicable string of poor defensive decisions, and then John Grabow and T.J. Beam made the bottom of the inning way too exciting--but the real story here was Ian Snell . Snell looked as good as he has all year: his fastball touched 97, and his slider was so filthy that Skip Schumaker...

With the trading of Jason Bay and Xavier Nady and with there being trade discussions involving Jack Wilson and John Grabow, it should be obvious to everyone that the Pirates are embarking on a rebuilding program, which -- if it works -- might not produce a winning team for several more seasons. ...

If the three-team trade that's rumored to be in the works -- Manny Ramirez to the Marlins, with the Red Sox receiving Pirates outfielder Jason Bay and lefthander reliever John Grabow -- ends up on Theo Epstein's desk waiting for his signature, do you think the Red Sox should sign off on it? In other words, do you think the Red Sox are a better team with Ramirez, or with Bay and Grabow? Bay does not...

Let's talk lefty relievers. David O'Brien names the Red Sox, Cardinals, Rays, Tigers, and White Sox parties interested in Will Ohman. But the Sox might end up with John Grabow, and the Tigers may be content with Kyle Farnsworth as their relief addition. Grabow may also be on the Rays' radar. MLB.com's Mark Bowman has the Rays, Yankees, and Red Sox after Ohman, with the Cardinals out of the bidding....

Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval. Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida,...

The Post-Gazette reports that the Bucs, Red Sox and Marlins are discussing a three-team trade that could potentially send off Jason Bay and John Grabow in exchange for a bunch of prospects and, possibly, Marlins outfielder Jeremy Hermida . This is really too complex to know much about yet. I'd love to have Hermida, but I don't know about him as the centerpiece of a Bay trade, and if he's not the centerpiece...

A Brian Fuentes trade remains doubtful. The White Sox will trade Orlando Cabrera for the right pitcher....
