Jose Valentin, Chicago White Sox: When you’re the guy in the Nomar Cubs jersey, you get precious few opportunities to make fun of someone else’s wardrobe choices. This guy took full advantage when he got the chance. (Found by Adam in Chicago.)

The body lets you know when it's over, whether your 32 or 42, it has a way of saying enough is enough. Most of us have missed Jose Valentin since he went down early in 2007 and were surprised to see how good he looked in Spring training. Even those who didn't want to see the club getting older again, wished for his veteran leadership during this year's struggles. But Valentin's body has betrayed his...

In 17 at bats for New Orleans this season, while playing first base and designated hitter, Valentin is batting .235 with one extra base hit, four strike outs and a perfectly groomed mustache. …if he’s hitting, i would like to see him back with the Mets, [...]

With all indications pointing towards Jose Valentin replacing Abraham Nunez on the active roster, most of what I read from around the blogosphere was opposed to bringing in another aging veteran. Valentin is hit less in AAA and while I understand the team wanting his leadership, a struggling offense just can't carry another weak bat. I'm all for bringing in Valentin if the team really feels he's that...

Rickey Henderson, Jose Valentin and Julio Franco. What's the connection? All are veteran players who were around with the Mets in part to help Jose Reyes. I am not buying Willie Randolph's comments that Reyes is "still a baby learning to play the game." Sorry, he's been around too long to be playing in the daze that [...]
