Q&A with Josh Hamilton

Here's a transcript of an interview with Josh Hamilton on the Rangers' website. Almost all fluff and a heaping helping of Hamilton's religious stuff if you're into that kind of thing, but this caught my eye: Hey Josh, How did it feel to hit 28 home runs in the home run derby? Question submitted by: Travis Williams Josh: I was a little tired, but it was unbelievable. It was probably one of the best...

Everyone loves to talk about how players like Dan Uggla, Johan Santana, Josh Hamilton, Joakim Soria, and even Roberto Clemente were aquired through the Rule V draft, but the reality is that it's not typically a very profitable way to aquire top tier talent. With this year's Rule V draft coming up next week, I thought I'd take a look at how the Braves have been helped and hurt, or haven't been, by the...

Went and saw the movie Outsourced (starring Josh Hamilton and Ayesha Dharker) tonight at the Carlton Cinema after having sushi -- at Daily Sushi, we're regulars -- with Vicky and Corinne. For a light "romantic comedy" I kinda liked the movie. Why is it that cultural differences are so funny? The movie's basic story is about a guy who has to train a call centre in India to sound more American (of course...

Jon Heyman has nominated Devil Rays manager Joe Maddon for Sports Illustrated’s 2008 Sportsman Of The Year. I trust that by now all of our readers know the many, many reasons why Joe Maddon would be the most deserving recipient of this award — EVER. But I thought it would be fun and in character [...]

While I did not predict him during the original predictions , midseason , or postseason predictions , the AL MVP is Dustin Pedroia ...although we all know it should have gone to Josh Hamilton. Just call him Mr. November. Or better yet, refer to Dustin Pedroia as the Most Valuable Player of the American League. The second baseman of the Boston Red Sox continued his rapid burst into the national spotlight...

Later today, this thread will contain news of the announcement of the 2008 American League Most Valuable Player. Dustin Pedroia? A-Rod? Morneau or Mauer? Carlos Quentin? Josh Hamilton? Francisco Rodriguez? Cliff Lee? As we await official word, chime in -- who will win? Who should? And why?

Hamilton rightly deserves an avalanche of honors for his incredible season and story. The MVP is not one of them. While Hamilton led the AL with 130 RBIs, he didn’t even lead his team in on-base-plus-slugging. Nor did he lead his team in batting average with runners in scoring position. And he certainly couldn’t lead the moribund pitching staff into contention.

Although he will fall short of the Most Valuable Player award some are eager to hand him, Josh Hamilton will be this year’s illustrious winner of the Most Valuable Druggie award. Normally winning the M.V.D. would not be a huge success, but 2008 has been a productive year for former drug abusers. Hamilton should narrowly beat [...]

Does anyone else get a queasy feeling when someone says, "How about if we trade Chris Davis for..."? He's the one guy for me right now that, for whatever reason, I really don't want to see dealt. I'd rather hear talk of trading Josh Hamilton or Ian Kinsler. Or Neftali Feliz or Derek Holland. Or Engel Beltre or Elvis Andrus. I think Davis is just my trade kryptonite right now. Anytime I see his name...

As disappointed as I was with the World Series, I can’t deny how great this baseball season was. There was great drama down the stretch, the amazing underdog story’s of the Rays as a team and, individually, that of Josh Hamilton, CC Sabathia’s amazing run with the Brewers, Jon Lester’s no-no, Chipper flirting with .400- [...]
