With Mark Teixeira’s days with the Braves likely being numbered, I thought I’d make a few comments about him. I’m a huge fan, and I think he is a fantastic all-around player. His career line of .285/.372/.534 is quite good. And even though his performance was aided by the friendly hitting environment of Arlington, [...]

Super agent Scott Boras called Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently; here are a few highlights. Boras wouldn't address Pedro Alvarez specifically, but talked at length about how his elite draft picks have become successful investments for teams. Boras referenced Mark Teixeira and the Drew brothers, who received deals in the $7-10MM range. Boras client Xavier Nady might want to stay...

ESPN's Jayson Stark has a new Rumblings and Grumblings column up. You may want to grab a glass of water or something, because this is a beast of a column. If the Braves have a bad weekend and decide to trade Mark Teixeira, a deal could come together quickly. Stark says the Braves have already touched base with the Rays, Red Sox, Dodgers, Angels and Yankees. Where Tex fits on the Rays, I'm not sure....

MLB.com's Jim Molony has a new column up. The Braves will listen to offers for Jeff Francoeur and Will Ohman, and maybe Mark Teixeira if the Braves struggle in the next week. The Royals are said to be interested in Francoeur. Mike Gonzalez is unavailable. The Braves have scouted Jason Bay and Xavier Nady, in case they decide to become buyers. The Phillies had an exec scouting the Astros recently. The...

Here's the latest from Ken Rosenthal, who should probably take a vacation in August. The D'Backs inquired on Mark Teixeira, but a trade is unlikely. Tex might be the best available hitter, as Matt Holliday seems likely to stay put. The Rockies scouted Nick Adenhart's last start. The Angels have more interest in Brian Fuentes than Holliday. Tons of scouts converged on Camden Yards last night to watch...

The Braves aren't out of the playoff race. Still, they'd be wise to look out for their future and trade Mark Teixeira, says Ken Rosenthal.

Jon Heyman is cranking out a lot of rumorage. Here's his latest. The price has dropped a tad on Xavier Nady, as the Pirates have become more interested in moving him. The Braves still might trade Mark Teixeira right before the deadline, and Heyman thinks they can easily beat two draft choices. Many teams scouted George Sherrill recently: the Marlins, Dodgers, Cardinals, Phillies, and Brewers. Some...

From MLBTR , apparently the Braves might be calling on behalf of Mark Teixeira, per CBS Sportsline : Atlanta officials insist that no decision has yet been made, and that as of yet they haven't offered Teixeira to anyone. They say that their inclination is to go for it, but they also admit that they've been making lists of possible Teixeira trading partners. Boston is on the list, and so are the Angels...

One of the scenarios in the whole Mark Teixeira, do-we-trade-him-or-do-we-keep-him saga, has us keeping him (presumably because there is no where to trade him, or we have some delusion about staying in the race) and just accepting the two draft picks we would receive as compensation when he would presumably sign with another team (after we offer him arbitration). Many people from beat writers to bloggers...

The latest from SI.com's Jon Heyman. The Rockies and Braves will wait until right before the July 31st deadline to decide whether to trade Matt Holliday and Mark Teixeira. The Rox have been more active calling around about Holliday, though. Heyman notes that Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd has spoken to the Mets, Angels, Phillies, and other teams about him. The Rockies are seven games out, while the Braves are...
