I think it was Jrsyeagle who brought up this article by Ken Rosenthal in last night's comments . Add the Marlins to the list of teams pursuing Brian Fuentes, the Rockies' left-handed closer. Catching is indeed an area of need for the Marlins, but Matt Treanor, recovering from a strained left hip, is close to beginning a rehabilitation assignment. The Marlins would rather go with Treanor and rookie...

Matt Treanor, who went on the 15-day DL with a left hip strain on July 8, could be reinstated as early as Wednesday. --- "It may be close," Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said about Treanor returning next week. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald writes of the Marlins' pursuit of a catcher, which has been going on for several weeks now. The Fish would like to find an upgrade on Matt Treanor, who is currently on the DL with a hip strain. As you all know by now, Matt Treanor was placed on the DL . Matt Treanor was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left hip strain, prompting an all-out search by the team for another catcher. “Are we looking? Sure we’re looking,” baseball operations president Larry Beinfest said Tuesday. “The all-points bulletin is out because we’re light not only here but now in the minor leagues.” John...

First off, Lee Gardner has been placed on the 60-day DL. Then Matt Treanor's abdominal strain turns out to be a strained left hip - he is on the 15-day DL but could be out indefinitely. Mike Rabelo has been placed on the 7-day Minor League DL, and is said by Beinfest to be 'banged up' (although he is still giving autographs ). So John Baker has been called up and will start today. Meanwhile, Dan Uggla...

Talk about a rarity, Misty May-Treanor and Matt Treanor actually crossed paths during the season. Misty was winning in Boulder and Matt was, or suppose to be, in Denver. But those towns aren't that far apart. The week was good in more ways than one for May-Treanor. Besides notching the victory, she and her husband, Matt Treanor, crossed paths for one of the very few times this time of year. Treanor...

It turns out MLB isn't so proud of Matt Treanor's work at the bat. Catcher Matt Treanor received a warning Tuesday from Major League Baseball for slow play. "They said I'm in and out of the (batter's) box," Treanor said. "I've never been told by an umpire to hurry up." Treanor noted by batting eighth, he sometimes has to buy the pitcher time if the first two hitters make quick outs. Oh, like he is...

'Batting seventh for the first time this year, the left-handed hitter opened the bottom of the second inning with a walk in a 2-2 game. 'On the first pitch to Gabe Gross, Floyd broke for second and beat the weak throw from Matt Treanor. The 35-year-old continued to third, when the ball skipped into center field. The other teams in the league are becoming believers . One reason the Marlins start is not an aberration, Arizona manager Bob Melvin asserts, is ''they don't have any big holes. Everybody complements each other.'' And, he said, you know who's underrated? Catcher Matt Treanor ''is a big part of their pitching success. Some of his defensive prowess goes unnoticed. And this is the best I've ever seen...
