Mike Lamb was placed on waivers by the Twins to make room for everyday Eddie Guardado. Lamb signed a two year deal during the off season and has struggled in his return to the American league in which he's only hitting .233. Lamb was much more successful in the National league with the Stros where he hit around .280 over four years. The 33 y/o left handed hitting player is a veteran of eight seasons...

A weird comment from manager Ron Gardenhire: Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said that in the end, the two sides just weren't quite the match that he had hoped. Lamb is owed another $690K this year plus $3MM in '09 and a $100K buyout for '10. One can make the argument that each offseason acquisition currently playing for the Twins has been a disappointment to some degree. Carlos Gomez has looked raw and over-matched. Brendan Harris has failed to meet his hitting line from last year. Mike Lamb has had a miserable season at the plate. Delmon Young's rumored power potential has not materialized in any form. Livan Hernandez and Craig Monroe,...

Last night at Safeco Field, the Twins took a 6-1 advantage into the bottom of the 7th behind a strong performance from southpaw Glen Perkins. Minnesota had drawn eight walks, picked up a pair of RBI from Mike Lamb and even saw little Nickie Punto go yard a day after Denard Span had done [...]

And it's not necessarily a bad thing. Boof Bonser is still in the bullpen, Livan Hernandez is still in the rotation, Mike Lamb is still taking up a bench spot and Craig Monroe is still this team's fifth outfielder. The Twins, quite predictably, have done nothing at the trade deadline, but that's not to say it's a horrible thing to have done. There were no easy, clear-cut deals to make. Rumors of Rich...

When the Twins signed Mike Lamb before the season I was optimistic. While Lamb wasn’t a huge name, he certainly was an improvement over signings from years past (Butch Huskey anyone?). He’s hit over .300 a couple of times and is a .276 lifetime hitter and had just come off a few decent [...]

With All-Star game festivities and mid-season recaps to report upon, most trade rumors are muted today. However, there are a few hints within several local papers. The biggest being the Minnesota Twins interest in Seattle Mariners' 3B Adrian Beltre. So much for the Mike Lamb signing. I would be shocked to see the Twins acquire a player with $18MM or so remaining on his contract, though. Here is a...

A bit of an odd play in the top of the seventh inning. With Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel on first and second base, Brandon Moss lost track of Delmon Young's flyball in the Sun and it dropped in for a single to load the bases with one out. Craig Hansen got Mike Lamb to fly out to right to Many Ramirez. The Sox escaped the inning, though, when Nick Punto grounded out to Hansen.
