Trade Review: the Impact of Ken Griffey Jr. on the White Sox By Alex Eisenberg On Thursday, the White Sox made a move to grab Ken Griffey Jr. from the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Nick Masset and infielder Danny Richar. Griffey is obviously a shell of the player he once was, but that shell still makes for a fairly productive player. He doesn't hit for average anymore, but he gets on base a at a decent...

White Sox get: Ken Griffey, Jr. Reds get: Nick Masset, Danny Richar This analysis is going to be biased, and sound bitter, because I’ve been a huge Junior Griffey fan since his first days in the big leagues. So consider yourself warned, and read this with a grain of salt. The White Sox ability to acquire Griffey for [...]

Ken Griffey Jr. has been traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for....well, hell, a couple of guys I've definitely never heard of, pitcher Nick Masset and infielder Danny Richar. Junior goes from the floundering Reds to the first-place White Sox and a possible shot at a World Series, finally. If he ever plays, that is. Considering the Sox outfield is already filled by...

-P- The White Sox and Reds have agreed on a trade that would send Ken Griffey to Chicago for Danny Richar and Nick Masset . The commissioner's office needs to approve it. The players the Reds get aren't anything special, but they save money on the deal. I'm not really sure what the White Sox are doing here--they don't really have a place for Griffey. He may be the sort of player who draws interest...
