Twins 12, Indians 3 (box) While C.C. Sabathia’s trade value continues its assent with every strikeout, we’re seeing a nearly perfect negative correlation with Paul Byrd. At one point, Byrd and then closer Joe Borowski were also considered tradable assets. Well, we’ve seen JoBo’s designation; and while doing the same with Byrd would not happen, his [...]

Delmon Young hit a three-run home run and had a season-high four RBIs, Nick Punto homered and also had four RBIs, and the surging Minnesota Twins beat the free-falling Cleveland Indians 12-3 on Friday night. Paul Byrd (3-10) hung a breaking ball to Young in...

Sappy fraud Ken Rosenthal's latest nonsensical page vomit revolves around Paul Byrd's explanation for why he used HGH... (Byrd) said that he had a legitimate explanation for using HGH — three doctors had diagnosed him as suffering from adult growth-hormone deficiency. Awesome. That is a legitimate reason for taking HGH...if you want to live a normal life. Not as far as baseball is concerned

Paul Byrd did HGH, but he's still not sure people know why. The Indians pitcher tells Ken Rosenthal the Mitchell Report got it wrong.

Dodgers 4, Indians 3 (box) It’s never good when there is action in the bullpen during the first inning. Such was the case yesterday afternoon when Paul Byrd gave up four runs before even recording an out. I bet Byrd would like that inning back, because from the second inning on, we saw a completely different pitcher [...]

This was a hard fought battle. The Dodgers came screaming out of the gate by scoring 4 big runs in the 1st inning on a 2 run double by Loney and a 2 run homerun by Russell Martin. Unfortunately, an initially hittable Paul Byrd righted his ship. Byrd finished the game by pitching 7 strong innings. For the remainder of the game the Dodgers would scatter just 5 more hits and would score no more runs....

Rockies 10, Indians 2 (box) “It just didn’t happen for us,” [Indians pitcher Paul] Byrd said. Us, Paul? Not to point fingers, buy Byrd has now given up 10 earned runs over the past two outings - totalling seven innings pitched. On a team that has been plagued by a lack of offense and the occasional bullpen [...]

I went to see the Rockies and the Indians tonight, two young teams who have greatly disappointed this year. The pitching matchup had a least a little bit of interest to it, with Colorado'squickly-improving rookie Greg Reynolds facing Cleveland's Paul Byrd, who's been getting meals at a discount for a couple of years now with his Serviceable Veteran Starters' Club card. The Rockies lineup looks much...

There's nothing all that remarkable about Paul Byrd. He doesn't strike people out, he gives up a decent number of hits, and he doesn't get all that many ground balls. He throws the ball in the strike zone and lets batters hit it. That is a strategy that has historically worked for him against the Twins, as he entered last night's game with a 10-3 career record and 3.50 ERA against the hometown nine....

Yesterday, ESPN's Peter Gammons said the Cubs are "sifting through names that could be available," mentioning starters A.J. Burnett, Gil Meche, Randy Wolf, Paul Byrd, Joe Blanton, Erik Bedard, and Aaron Cook. Gammons notes that the Cubs tried to sign Meche in the winter of '06 (as did the Jays). The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton spoke to Meche as well as a club official. It doesn't seem that the Royals...
