Poor Gonzalez, poor Keppinger, poor Hairston, poor Cabrera, they finally got a chance to play...Paul Janish, beware! Something strange came over me as I watched the Reds play in Yankee Stadium last night. It was a feeling I had when at GAB(p) last Friday, too. I was in awe. I couldn't believe it. The Reds were playing the Yankees and Red Sox. I don't know if it's the hyper-focus by the national media...

It might be time for Hopper to return, and certainly Keppinger. It will mean the demise of Jolbert Cabrera or Paul Janish. But who would be sent down when both of those guys return from rehab? Valentin DFA? Andy Phillips? I don't see an obvious sub-out to get Hopper back. That is, if the Reds are interested in sending him back to Cincinnati. Jukich Triple-A: Norris Hopper was 3 for 4 with 2 runs and...

In case you’re wondering how this works, yes, I scan MLB boxscores each night. I’m not looking at standings, I’m not looking at pitching lines, I’m not looking at who went deep. There is only one thing on my mind when on Sombrero alert: the K column. And as soon as I [...]

Well, it sure wasn't pretty. By the end of the top of the first, the Cardinals were on top 5-0, and that was without Albert Pujols. Cincinnati never did get their bats going, and went down on a three-hit shutout by St. Louis starter Braden Looper. The hits were singles by Jay Bruce and Paul Janish and a double by Ken Griffey. Nobody even drew a walk. The double came in the fourth, and the singles were...

Lee starts like Volquez, in the opposite order. He gives up a flare single followed by a walk to Paul Janish, making his first start. It's just the fifth walk allowed by Lee this season. A passed ball put runners...

–Matt Belisle’s spot in the rotation is going to be skipped. The Reds will go with the originally-planned starters for the Cleveland series: Johnny Cueto, Aaron Harang, Edinson Volquez. –Andrew at Redlegs Rundown has a nice profile of newest Red Paul Janish. –Dusty Baker is complaining about interleague play, and he makes a great point about [...]

Imagine yourself being 25-years old, having the same job since high-school, and making a mediocre salary. You're close to a promotion, but the people ahead of you don't seem to be going anywhere. That was Paul Janish a few days ago. He’d been playing baseball at a high level since he was 19, drafted at [...]

On Wednesday night, the Reds could do nothing wrong and the Marlins didn't do anything right. Until the top of the 9th. The Fish scored six runs in the inning, three coming on a Cody Ross homer to tie the game but it was all for naught as rookie Paul Janish smacked a game winning [...]
