Live from Lexington, MA Ryan Shealy has seven home runs. In sixteen games. The Royals spent four months giving something like 7,000 PAs to Ross Gload/Mark Teahen/Joey Gathright/Ross Gload/Mitch Maier and on and on, seemingly trying to avoid any semblence of power. Hurray! Thanks to seven strong innings, Zack Greinke likely finishes his 2008 campaign with a 3.47 ERA and career highs in IP, Ks, K/9...

Ryan Shealy is evoking ancient memories of Mike Aviles. Or possibly Emil Brown, circa Spring Training 2006. Home Runs By Dudes Who Are Royals & Were Also Standing Near First-Base When the Other Team is Hitting During The Game When They Hit Ryan Shealy- 5 (36 PAs as a 1B) Ross Gload- 3 (374 PAs as a 1B) Mark Teahen- 2 (54 PAs as a 1B) Billy Butler- 2 (120 PAs as a 1B) I'm happy for Ryan Shealy, even...

I'm tired of watching Ross Gload. I'm tired of watching Jose Guillen. I have a vague unsatisfied desire to see what Ryan Shealy can do. I would love to see Kila. Personally, I'm bored with Billy Butler, but would nevertheless prefer to see him play. Instead, we got Gload at first (1-4 with an inspirational double) and Guillen at DH (1-4).The wonderful thing about being a fan of this team is that you...

With the annual September privilege of expanded rosters, the Royals promoted forgotten savior Ryan Shealy and internet hero Kila Ka'aihue . With supposed prospect Billy Butler and Everyday Ross Gload (who started something like 400 consecutive games for Hillman) the most impotent team of the decade suddenly found itself with four options at 1B/DH. Lets take a look at how Hillman has divided the playing...

Hillman says Shealy, Ka’aihue will share time at first base (Gload regulated to outfield) The good news? Hillman goes on record saying they're going to platoon first base between Shealy and Ka'aihue . The bad news? Hillman said this means more Ross Gload at the corner outfield spots, in right and left. The funny news? Hillman felt the need to make sure everyone knew he had already run this idea past...

Another Bannister start, another good time at the ballpark for the opposition. To be fair, Bannister's two home runs allowed have been Miguel Cabrera solo shots. Just think, if he could avoid making those mistake pitches, he might be good! And we can't hit Verlander so far. And Ross Gload is 3-for-3, as his empty batting average rises to help guarentee his starting spot next year. And Gordon's hurt....

No loss ever feels good, even when you play with the grit of a Ross Gload type, but this one stings where it hurts. Gil Meche was absolutely stellar after allowing three runs early, two of which go in the "unearned" bin. All told, Meche gave up only two hits, walked one, and struck out nine over seven innings. His ERA (yes I know ERA isn't that great of a stat, believe me) was lowered to 4.01 in the...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - By the time the ball rolled along the outfield wall, from center fielder Mitch Maier to left fielder Ross Gload, Jason Bay had gone from a chance at a fly out to a chance at a home run to a sure double. As he turned into second base, watching the play all the way, Bay didn't ...

Tonight's game has filled the inquisitive mind with trivial thoughts and pictures. Jason Bay had a double off the centerfielder's glove that rolled about SIX FEET along the TOP of the KC wall before leftfielder Ross Gload kept it in the park. Jacoby Ellsbury had TWO hits! And two stolen bases. As they say, you can't steal first base. Mike Lowell just pains the consciousness limping around the bases....

OAKLAND, Calif. | First baseman Ross Gload appears to be a fixture in the Royals' lineup even if it means keeping a gimpy José Guillen in the outfield.
