ST. LOUIS – Heath Bell was one out from sending the Padres into the ninth inning with a lead when he threw a third consecutive fastball to Cardinals slugger Troy Glaus. A Carlsbad High alum who has pained the Padres since his amateur days, Glaus seemingly willed the Padres to tee it up for him.

St. Louis has been a hell of a story this year. Few expected the Cardinals to compete during their "transition year" with a variety of individual stories leading the way. The Scott Rolen for Troy Glaus trade certainly hasn't been a bad one for the Cards.
