Suns thrash road-weary Pistons

PHOENIX (Reuters) –The Phoenix Suns routed the Detroit Pistons 117-91 Sunday to preserve their perfect home record and improve to a joint NBA-best 11-3. Amare Stoudemire scored 21 points and Steve Nash added 20 as Phoenix tied Orlando and Atlanta for the NBA's best record. Jason Richardson added 17 points and Nash also had nine assists. Phoenix, a perfect 5-0 at home this season, were never threatened

How good is the Suns bench?

There was a time when the Phoenix Suns bench featured Barbosa plus Diaw and, if it was really needed, a random towel-waver who could check in and play a few minutes replacing someone in foul trouble. Mike D'Antoni has always been a believer of the short rotation, something he's been criticized for (and probably rightly so) over the years. His Phoenix Suns never had more than an eight man rotation by...

The Most Essential Sun

By Henry Abbott Remember when Steve Nash, Mike D'Antoni and the "Seven Seconds or Less" Phoenix Suns redefined NBA basketball -- and even sniffed a championship in the process? Back then it was one of those funny academic debates. Who's more important to the team's success? The coach with the clever free-wheeling offense, or the point guard to makes it all work? D'Antoni used to joke that...

Daily Links: Where Losing is all Part of the Plan

Browse more photos » Just kidding. Of course, losing sucks and of course losing to the Lakers sucks even extra bad and to get blown out...well, that just sucks. Nash and Suns Outlast Sixers

From the moment the ball went up for the opening tip, the Phoenix Suns moved up and down the court at a rapid pace. It's the mantra of coach Alvin Gentry. It works, too. The Suns completed a 4-1 road trip with an impressive 119-115 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night at the Wachovia Center. Capping a five-game road trip with four wins and moving to 7-1 overall is a terrific start.
