Thoughts on Kansas and Texas A&M

There isn't a whole lot to talk about with the Kansas game that hasn't already been said here in the last couple of days or earlier in the season, so I'll just do it bullet style: Before the Baylor game, I said that the two best receivers Texas would face this season on one team were David Gettis and Kendall Wright . Somehow I forgot about Kerry Meier and Dezmon Briscoe and that was just stupid. Meier...

Injury Report -- Thanksgiving Week

There are two obvious injury stories we're following, made even bigger by the upcoming short week before the Aggy game. Aaron Williams hurt his knee and John Chiles hurt his ankle. Williams couldn't put pressure on his knee coming off the field but was able to get off the field via his own power (rather than on a cart). That was the first good sign that this wasn't a season ending injury. Ironically...

Injury Report -- Kansas Game Week

More photos » by Eric Gay - AP DJ Monroe may not be doing this for a while. Browse more photos » The Horns are fairly healthy entering the penultimate conference game of the season. Aaron Williams played against Baylor and recorded an INT. Tre Newton continues to show no ill effects from the concussion suffered against Colorado, and there are no new injuries to report. Huzzah! Silence Dogood here. You never know what you’re going to read in the paper. In yesterday’s “Parade” magazine, there was a brief interview with Aaron Williams, the new director of the Peace Corps. Reading along to see Mr. Williams’s plans for the Peace Corps, I read the following: “Since many volunteers are tech-savvy, I want to use [...]

Bevo's Daily Roundup - November 16, 2009

"I am really, really proud of this team," said Texas coach Mack Brown. "They came out ready to play and dominated the first half." Domination. Austin took over Waco Saturday. Playing before a crowd of 44,372 saturated by Texas fans, the No. 2 Longhorns made themselves at home and ran Baylor out of its own stadium. With Colt McCoy pushing the offense and Texas’ defense smothering...

Notes from Mack Brown's Monday Press Conference

I listented to the press conference this morning and there were some good tidbits: On the injury front, Aaron Williams will be returning this week. And Muckelroy briefly left the game with a stinger, but is fine and will play this week. Other than that.....no new injuries. James Kirkendoll will replace Goodwin at the other WR starting spot Cody Johnson is officially the starter at running back this...

Akron May Or May Not Have A Quarterback On Saturday

We noted earlier this year that Akron has dismissed starting quarterback Chris Jacquemain from the team for a violation of team policy (which we came to learn stemmed from a fight). It was a crushing blow for the Zips considering Jacquemain was a senior and had tons of experience. Turns out, this was simply the beginning of Akron's woes this season : Afterwards, sophmore Matt Rodgers took over the...

Against the Grain attacks Chomsky, Zinn, McChesney and more

The information attack came like a one-two-three punch. The Berkeley Daily Planet printed a front page story, titled, “KPFA Charges Pacifica With Raid on Station’s Funds.” That was Thursday, August 6th. The paper had hardly hit the street, and we hadn’t even seen it yet before we heard KPFA newscaster Philip Maldari talking about it on the Morning Show. Improperly using KPFA’s...

Injury Report -- Post OU

Texas heads into Mizzou about as healthy as could be hoped for this part of the season. Lamarr Houston hurt his knee in the second half but came back to finish the game. Earl Thomas hit his head on the sidelines but he came back and made a big play or two. Vondrell McGee had only one carry but it was good to see him back on the field. Tre Newton did not play due to the concussion suffered against Colorado....
