If shootaround is any indication, point guard Acie Law might suit up tonight for the first time as a Charlotte Bobcat. Looks like big men Gana Diop and Alexis Ajinca will be inactive for the home game against the Toronto...

Interesting call Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown made by de-activating big men Alexis Ajinca and Gana Diop versus the Atlanta Hawks. Brown said at morning shootaround that he'd determine which 12 players were activated on a game-to-game basis, based partially...

One reason I cut off the training camp invite series was that, well, they're playing the games already. So instead, I thought it would be good to take a look at some past and future D-Leaguers who are performing well in the preseason (or, occasionally, maybe, not performing well). I'll probably start this as a daily feature, and knowing me, it will last a week. But still, what a week it will be. I...

Boxscore from ESPN.com My favorite number from this game: 54. The replacement refs seem to be getting a hang of this, as they got the number of fouls down to a relatively normal level after some big totals early in the pre-season. But my second favorite number/numbers: 15 and 7. Alexis Ajinca is showing promise. And then I remember Adam Morrison looked pretty decent in summer league and I keep my...

Researching a Sunday column on Alexis Ajinca's contract situation -- http://www.charlotteobserver.com/206/story/995833.html -- confirmed something I suspected for a long time: First-round picks in the NBA just aren't as valuable as some of you treat them. I'm not talking ALL first-round...

Boxscore from NBA.com A few tidbits from last night's game: - I was most impressed with DJ Augustin. He looked like a real point guard and I was glad to see that they didn't play him and Raymond together. The alley-oop to Alexis Ajinca was my favorite DJ play because he saw the opportunity before anyone else, a clear sign that the game is slowing down for him. The pass to Stephen Graham for the clinching...

I did not see the game and I did not hear the game. I saw a boxscore and a couple of things jumped out at me: Nazr Mohammed and Alexis Ajinca handled themselves pretty well. 10 and 8 in 18 minutes for Nazr, 9 and 7 in 19 for Alexis. Considering how Alexis was already being called a bust around the league last year, his solid numbers against even border-line NBA talent is encouraging. Seize the backup...

(By Rick Bonnell, rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com) Counterintuitive as this sounds, Charlotte Bobcats forward Alexis Ajinca should start worrying when the coach stops yelling at him. That's not much consolation when Larry Brown is on you more than any teammate. Still, the attention Ajinca is getting in this training camp reflects his potential and the minutes available at power forward.

(By Rick Bonnell, rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com) Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown had a message for big man Alexis Ajinca Monday. Don't ever play here like you played in the French national-team tryouts.

When Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown sends a message, it's seldom ambiguous. Case in point: What he said Monday about the lacking effort Alexis Ajinca showed this summer in tryouts for the French national team: "I was going (to France)...
