With Rip Hamilton missing the past five games with a slight tear in his left groin and Rasheed Wallace missing the past two with a sore right foot, you'd think this would be an odd time for the Pistons to be playing their best this season. Antonio McDyess (sore ribs) has missed two games during the Pistons' current seven-game winning streak.

LOS ANGELES -- Antonio McDyess' fondest wish when the Pistons face the Nuggets in Denver on Friday night is that he doesn't have sudden brain lapse when he sees Chauncey Billups.

LOS ANGELES -- Just looking at Antonio McDyess following Sunday's victory, you would have thought he had fallen off a cliff instead of playing a basketball game. He had ice bags on both knees. Another ice bag was wrapped in place to soothe his sore right ribs.

The big men made a big difference with their absence from the Pistons' lineup Friday against Sacramento at the Palace. With Richard Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace in street clothes and Antonio McDyess sitting on the bench with bruised ribs and a sore thigh, the Pistons who actually made it onto the court were hurting against one of the NBA's worst road teams.

Because the Detroit Pistons are rather thin on their roster - they’re missing Richard Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess due to injury - they had to do some tinkering with their roster as they started Kwame Brown and Amir Johnson in their game Friday night against the Sacramento Kings at The Palace at Auburn [...]

In a game where Antonio McDyess made many plays for the Pistons down the stretch Monday night, one play really told how much the veteran power forward means to this team. The Pistons led Orlando, 85-80, with 1:10 left. They had the ball, and a lazy pass headed toward McDyess.

by Tom Ziller Filed under: Cavaliers , Celtics , NBA Rumors , Thunder That Boston would like another veteran reserve for its frontcourt is not new information: the Celtics were heavily involved in courting Antonio McDyess in November when the player gave the impression his return to the Pistons was not a preordained procedure. Twice-retired P.J. Brown's name pops up, though it seems he is really retired...

Ideally, Pistons coach Michael Curry would like to play veteran forward/center Antonio McDyess in the second and fourth quarters only, and keep him in during crunch time. McDyess is the leader of the second unit. He's valuable because he's the primary scoring option off the bench, a strong defensive presence and a calming influence on teammates.

A Daily Babble Production We have yet to hit the turn of the calendar, but the "Who, if anyone, will Danny add to the Celtics' bench?" rumor mill is in midseason form and has been for some time now. We watched wistfully as Antonio McDyess returned to Detroit, but mumblings of possible arrivals from currently pseudo-retired P.J. Brown or Dikembe Mutombo continue. Celts fans won't soon forget what Brown...

It took the Jazz awhile, but after Rasheed Wallace fouled out in the first overtime, and Richard Hamilton, Rodney Stuckey and Antonio McDyess did the same early in the second, Utah made a run and put away the Pistons, 120-114.
