Jackie Manuel and Dahntay Jones have now gone the way of Esteban Batista . And with the Celtics heading into the season one under the max let the buy out rumors begin. Best of luck to Jones and Manuel as they continue on their quest to catch on somwhere.

I have to be honest I was a little surprised to learn that Esteban Batista was the first to go . This comes right on the heels of Peter F. Stringer typing a sentence we should get used to, "But they'll have to do it shorthanded as Scot Pollard is out..." After Kendrick Perkins, who still has to establish himself as a guy who can stay healthy and out of foul trouble, what do the Celtics have at the...

Big man Esteban Batista and swingman Dahntay Jones played well enough over the past few days to earn themselves an all-expenses-paid (working) vacation to Rome and London. There, and back in the United States next month, they will have the chance to make the 2007-08 Celtics.

After turning down the Celtics' advances last week, Esteban Batista reconsidered his position and signed with the Celtics (via Red's Army ) putting to rest any speculation that Batista might take the Pacers up on their offer . No wonder the Pacers were profiling David Harrison yesterday. Harrison remains the big they need to step up and add some production.

Both the Globe and Herald are reporting that the Celtics have finalized their training camp roster by signing Forward/Center Esteban Batista and Swingman Dahntay Jones to non-guaranteed contracts. The Celtics, along with several other teams, have been pursuing Batista. He had turned down an offer from Boston reportedly to concentrate on other teams that were more interested. But the next day, it was...

The Herald and Globe report that the C's were trying out forwards Eric Williams, Linton Johnson III, power forward Esteban Batista and center Kelvin Cato. What they all have in common is that none of them have an NBA contract and all are considered big men. And, presumably, they all have the first two weeks in [...]

Mark Murphy reports this in the Herald: Former Celtic Eric Williams, journeymen big men Kelvin Cato and Linton Johnson, and Esteban Batista, the first Uruguayan to ever play in the NBA, all worked out for the Celtics yesterday. All are expected to continue their workouts today, with coach Doc Rivers and his staff expected to invite at least one and quite possibly two to training camp. A team source...

Esteban Batista is my new favorite NBA player. He played the last two years for the Atlanta Hawks, playing sparingly with averages of just 1.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He's now a restricted free agent and is not a sure bet to play in the NBA next season. So why the love from Magic Valley Mormon? Turns out Esteban is from Uruguay, my second home. As a missionary I played my fair share of basketball...
