Really wish D Rose followed this up with a dunk in Pau’s face. Was not the case. Great seeing the ‘09-’10 Bulls hang tough against the Lakers last night. The Bulls offense was pretty off the entire game — Rose started 2 for 12 or something — great, explosive drives to the basket but nothing [...]

Oh, FYI. Here's a stat to think on: The Lakers have NEVER lost a regular game in which Pau Gasol and Ron Artest played as teammates. Not a typo. I checked with the eggheads over at Elias. NEVER. Betcha didn't know that one, people! The breakdown is below. Three Good Derek Fisher: Fisher's spent his entire career as a streak shooter, which makes his roller coaster November no surprise. Just because...

Text messages from press row ... As amusing as it was seeing Pau Gasol on "CSI: Miami," it was better seeing him back on the court Thursday night. . . .

Pau Gasol works it in the post in a game versus the Golden State Warriors. (AP Photo/Jeff Lewis) LA Times sports columnist Bill Plaschke wrote an article describing the lackluster reaction of Laker Nation last night as Pau Gasol made his first appearance of the season. Coming off a hamstring injury that sidelined the Spaniard for the first eleven games of the season, Gasol was back to his usual self,...

Hamstring! It sounds like a bad musical, but really, it was just the major running subplot for the Lakers over their first 11 games as they waited for Pau Gasol's balky hammy to heal up. Thursday night, the curtain finally rose on Gasol's '09-'10 season, and the reviews (I'm already sick of this metaphor, but it's too late to turn back) were sterling. Tony Award quality, even. (Wow, that last one made...

The return of Pau Gasol, to me, was like going to see a really hyped-up movie, and then the movie actually being really good. I sat down with my soda, popcorn, and watermelon Sour Patch Kids, totally prepared to be disappointed. Little did I know that Pau would capture my attention early with a superb [...]

Chicago 93, LA Lakers 108: Pau Gasol made a triumphant return for the champs, scoring 24 points and taking 13 rebounds in victory. Kobe scored 21, and in the process passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the 2nd leading scorer in franchise history. Kobe should overtake Jerry West for first in February, maybe March. Phoenix 103, New Orleans [...]

To lead this morning's SN column , I couldn't help but joke about SN's ranking of the best football announcers: Which pair would I want announcing my kids' bar-mitzvahs? (Lundquist and Danielson, naturally.) (Then there is the default life-caster: Gus Johnson, whose enthusiasm could make even the lamest moments in your life feel exciting.) But it's not like there isn't plenty to talk about today: *That...
