Eddie Curry's first game back. This is a huge test for Eddy Curry. I wanna see how he does vs. Kendrick Perkins, Kevin Garnett, and Rasheed Wallace. I hate Perkins. I hope Eddy has the game of his life Well the Knicks are on a winning streak.... Celtics are on a losing streak. Should be easy pickings Watch Rondo run wild on Duhon, also worried about the Gallo Pierce match up it's gonna be a tough...

The Best since Kareem'? Sidney Moncrief, Marques Johnson, Paul Pressey, Ricky Pierce, Terry Cummings, Jack Sikma, Ray Allen, Alton Lister, Sam Cassell… I realize the Bucks have been wandering lost in the NBA wilderness for a long, long, time, but that is the roll of past Buck luminaries Sports Illustrated writer Arash Markazi blithely cast aside [...]

Wizards assistant coach Sam Cassell emerged from the locker room last Saturday, covering in a full lather of sweat. He shouted, "I got him! I got him!" Cassell had just beaten Paul Davis in a game of one-on-one, 12-11, after coming back from a 7-1 deficit. Cassell shouted, "These guys don't understand. I retired by choice! Not by force!" The Wizards don't have a roster spot available...

The Wizards already are immersed in self-doubt. They are out of sync and out of sorts, found wanting in purpose and cohesiveness. They are not a pretty sight, whether it is Caron Butler missing three shots at the rim or Randy Foye, inexplicably, making an ill-advised move to the basket before halftime that allowed the Suns enough time to sink a 3-pointer. The latter prompted assistant coach Sam Cassell...

Michael Redd hurt his knee Saturday night, and he'll now be out at least two weeks with an injury to the same knee that keep him out last year. Redd has been a great player for the Bucks, but he really needs to be more healthy to be a help to this team. His leadership, and experience from playing with Sam Cassell, Glenn Robinson, and Ray Allen helps this team a lot. He is really a hard guy to

When he was charged with making the Washington Wizards a championship contender, Flip Saunders' to-do list included grooming Nick Young into a legitimate pro. Saunders and assistant Sam Cassell spent the summer working with the athletic Southern Cal product, determined to morph the guard from a dribbling jitterbug to an efficient pick-and-roll contributor. The first step in the process appears to have...

A championship bench? View full size photo uploaded October 4, 2009 At the beginning of this off-season, Doc Rivers was asked what the team needed to accomplish this summer, especially after a 2008 off-season that many have described as disappointing. Rather than deflect the question, Doc answered it head on : Q: The one thing the Celtics hit on last year was bench guys you brought in, including James...

RICHMOND -- Coach Flip Saunders didn't bring any footballs or hypnotists to practice on Sunday, but his players have been marveling over the unique ways in which Saunders has attempted to convey his message this week. "He keeps it fresh, keeps it fun," Caron Butler said. "We're just in training camp. We haven't even played a preseason game yet. We're just talking about how comfortable...

Sam Cassell spotted Wizards Vice President of Player Personnel Milt Newton tossing a football with Nick Young and Dominic McGuire after practice on Saturday. Cassell, who said he played intramural football at Florida State, called for the ball. "Hey, Milt," Cassell said, holding out his hands. Cassell caught the ball, then fired a perfect spiral the length of the court to Young. If you're...

As the Towson Center emptied out early Saturday evening, Sam Cassell stood near the sidelines with some family and friends. It was a rare tranquil moment for the Baltimore native this week. “It’s been real cool, but I’m still soaking it in,” said Cassell, who won a NBA championship with the Boston Celtics several days ago. “When I go on vacation next month, I can sit back and recap what I went through.”
