ProBasketball News has an interesting list of some lower tier free agents that could be had for cheap. Old friends Gerald Green and Wally Szczerbiak make the list and I don't think they are very good fits here (Wally can still shoot, but that's about it). However, there are some interesting names of guys that I wouldn't mind seeing here for the right price (ie. very cheap). Ike Diogu and Jason Collins...

The Cavaliers did it. They pulled the trigger. Unlike last season where they went into it hoping to be able to unload Wally Szczerbiak’s expiring deal, they didn’t allow the temptation of standing pat to even enter their brain. And now for the small price of Ben Wallace’s creaky body and Sasha Pavlovic’s incessant inconsistency [...]

Great move by the Spurs. Jefferson gives them a starter-level player in return for Bowen (who will suck elsewhere and may just end up back as a Spur) and Oberto (who may just be cut and.......well.......end up a Spur). Kurt Thomas is 1,000. You think he won't be available if the Spurs want him back? Grade -- Spurs A -- need a talent improvement to win, and like I said, I think they could get back the...

Right before last season’s trade deadline, the rumors were flying fast and furious about the Suns shopping center Shaquille O’Neal to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland wanted to send a package including Ben Wallace (remember when he was feared') and Sasha Pavlovic, but the Suns wanted Wally Szczerbiak instead, and the deal fell apart. Now, the talks are [...]

The Cavaliers will forever sit and look at the expiring numbers on Wally Szczerbiak’s contract as a missed opportunity. Citing chemistry and a lack of availability of desirable players, the Cavaliers let the trade deadline slip away. One of the most talked about expiring contract in the history of the game and nothing seemed to [...]

Gone Fishin' View full size photo uploaded June 2, 2009 You know, I don't normally like Charlie Rosen's articles, especially when he talks about the Celtics . He's arrogant, overly critical, and condescending in a "I'm a former coach so I'm better than you" sort of way. And I usually disagree with his take on the Celtics. So either I'm too much of an oversensitive homer (a real possibility,...

by Nate Jones Filed under: Cavaliers , Suns , Playoffs Around this season's trade deadline, there was a lot of chatter surrounding Shaquille O'Neal . Everyone assumed that Shaq or his teammate Amare Stoudemire wouldn't be in a Suns uniform past the trade deadline. Of course the deadline passed and both Shaq and Amare remained on Planet Orange. One of the teams reported to be involved in the pursuit...

There are a million outcomes of the Eastern Conference Finals' Game 6. The Lakers got homecourt advantage in the Finals. Some quick fouls on the likes of Anderson Varejao and Mo Williams will help to kill talk that the playoffs were rigged to present us Kobe Bryant vs. LeBron James. Dwight Howard played his biggest in his biggest game yet, and Stan Van Gundy has more than proved Shaquille O'Neal wrong....

Posted by Kevin Arnovitz The Cavs and Magic each came into the series with a full playbook of good offensive material that worked all season -- which is why they're playing basketball in late May. The difference came down to which team better executed its stuff. Saturday night, it wasn't even close. Here's a very handy list of all the free agents that will be hitting the market in July. They even have a page sorted by position . Why don't we pool our collective wisdom and start picking some favorites? As you make comments, I can update this list. So far I've just tried to narrow the list down to guys that interest me and start lumping them into vague groupings. (r = restricted | eto = early termination...

Cleveland faces Orlando tonight in a must-win Game Five. No one is blaming LeBron. No one. Not even the stupid. Arguing against it is a fatuous waste of time. Blame Danny Ferry for not turning Wally Szczerbiak’s contract into something useful. Where would the Cavs be had they not stumbled through abject failure into LeBron James? Blame [...]

We have a five-minute meeting break, and we’re playing with “borrowed” wireless, so here’s Lattewarrior’s talker suggestion: Since the Eastern Conference Finals begin today, wouldn’t it be apropos to discuss Wally Szczerbiak and his improbable return to NBA relevance? His numbers aren’t all that impressive (in 72 regular season games he averaged 20 minutes,...

CLEVELAND (AP) From his corner cubicle in Cleveland's locker room, LeBron James kept his eyes riveted on the flat-screen TV. He wanted to see every replay. There was his no-look pass to Wally Szczerbiak. There was his reverse dunk in the final seconds of the first quarter. Read the full story
